Rep. Pfluger Announces Republican Study Committee Senior Staff for 119th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC — Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman-elect August Pfluger (TX-11) today announced key senior staff appointments for the 119th Congress, naming Lyssa Bell as Executive Director and Abby McHan as Deputy Executive Director and Policy Director.

"I am proud to announce that Lyssa Bell will serve as Executive Director of the Republican Study Committee for the 119th Congress," said Chairman-elect Pfluger. "Lyssa brings extensive experience and proven leadership that will be invaluable as RSC continues its critical work advancing conservative policies in the House of Representatives. Her strategic vision and understanding of both policy and politics make her exceptionally qualified to lead our staff team."

Pfluger also announced that current RSC Policy Director Abby McHan will take on an expanded role as Deputy Executive Director while continuing to serve as Policy Director. "Abby has demonstrated outstanding leadership in developing and advancing RSC's conservative policy agenda," Pfluger noted. "Her policy expertise and institutional knowledge will be tremendous assets as she takes on additional responsibilities in this new dual role."

The Republican Study Committee, established in 1973, serves as the conservative conscience of House Republicans and is a leading influencer on policy in Congress. The RSC is dedicated to bringing conservative solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the American people.

About Lyssa Bell: Lyssa Bell has served in Congressman August Pfluger's office for four years, including two years as Communications Director and two years as Deputy Chief of Staff. A native of Midland, Texas—the heart of the district she helps represent—Bell is a graduate of Texas Tech University. Prior to her current role, she served on the staff of House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway.

About Abby McHan: Abby McHan, a native of Northwest Georgia and graduate of the University of Georgia, brings extensive legislative experience to her expanded role at RSC. Prior to joining the Republican Study Committee in September 2023, McHan served for five years in the office of Texas Congressman Michael Cloud, including two years as Legislative Director. She previously worked for former Congressman Doug Collins.
