RSC and FCC Chairman Carr Join Forces to Combat Liberal Media Bias and Expanding Regulatory Reforms

February 27, 2025

WASHINGTON DC - Today, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) welcomed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr to Capitol Hill. Chairman Carr, who has been at the forefront of telecommunications policy, met with RSC members to share insights on reining in Big Tech censorship, expanding rural broadband access, promoting free-market principles in the digital space, strengthening national security, and addressing concerns about media ownership concentration.

"The Republican Study Committee is honored to host FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a warrior for free speech who has consistently fought against the liberal media machine and is protecting our national security by preventing foreign adversaries from infiltrating our telecommunications infrastructure,” said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11). We thank Chairman Carr for his bold leadership in confronting George Soros who has corrupted our media and silenced conservative voices, and the committee fully supports his efforts to restore truth to our public discourse while expanding broadband access to rural communities. The RSC is committed to working alongside Chairman Carr to dismantle the censorship cartel, strengthen America's digital infrastructure through free-market principles, and restore free speech rights for everyday Americans."

"Under Chairman Pfluger's leadership, the Republican Study Committee is delivering great results for the American people,” said FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. “From reining in government excesses to strengthening our economy and national security, they are advancing solutions that work. I welcome the chance to meet with Chairman Pfluger and RSC members today to discuss the tech and telecom policies we're working on at the FCC and review ways the FCC can implement the regulatory reforms championed by RSC members."

As a battle-tested FCC Commissioner since 2017 before taking the Chairman's role, Carr built his reputation as an unwavering defender of American telecommunications sovereignty against foreign threats while slashing regulatory red tape that hamstrung innovation. His approach to expanding rural broadband has connected countless forgotten communities to the digital economy, delivering on promises that previous administrations ignored.

The Republican Study Committee—Congress's conservative powerhouse and largest caucus on Capitol Hill—stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Chairman Carr in the fight to dismantle the left-wing media monopoly, crush censorship, and advance an agenda of freedom that puts everyday Americans first.
