WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) issued a ruling to uphold the state of Tennessee's law to ban transgender care for minors. The ruling will protect generations of children from the dangers of hormone drugs, life-altering surgeries, and more.
Members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) applauded the Supreme Court's decision:
“I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Tennessee’s law safeguarding our most vulnerable, our children, from irreversible and unnecessary medical treatments that carry dangerous risks. This ruling reaffirms that protecting the health and well-being of minors is not just a state’s right, but a moral imperative. We will continue to fight to ensure that states can protect children from harmful medical practices and uphold the values that define our nation,” said Rep. Robert Aderholt (AL-04).
"The Supreme Court's decision today protected innocent children from life-altering mutilations of their bodies—a move that is a huge win for parental rights and defeating the woke ideology of the Left," said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11). "This highlights the legitimate concerns that parents and medical professionals have raised about the long-term physical and psychological effects of these exploitative procedures. As a father to three young girls, I will continue protecting the most vulnerable from this abusive harm. Congressional Republicans will build on this ruling, protecting children in all 50 states through the Medicaid gender transition procedure ban included in the One Big Beautiful Bill. We're restoring common sense in America again."
"No child should ever be subjected to dangerous hormone drugs or irreversible gender-mutilating surgeries. Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a historic victory for common sense and the protection of our kids. The Left’s radical and abusive agenda is being exposed, rejected, and dismantled. We must work to make this protection federal law through the Medicaid gender transition ban in President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill," said Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15).
"Today’s Supreme Court decision affirms what parents and commonsense Americans already know: taxpayers should never be forced to fund child mutilation. When Congress passes, and President Trump signs, the One Big Beautiful Bill, it will become law that Medicaid dollars can no longer be used for irreversible procedures that harm kids. As a father and grandfather, there’s nothing more important than protecting our children," said Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04).
“This is great news for American children! This sick practice should be banned across the world,” said Rep. Lance Gooden (TX-05).
“Today is a major victory for protecting children from irreversible and life-altering harm across our nation. The House-passed reconciliation bill will restrict tax dollars from paying for gender transition procedures, and we must get these protections to the president’s desk so that every child in America is safer. I applaud all the parents and communities that continue to be a voice for our youth during such a formative and impressionable time in their lives,” said Rep. Chuck Edwards (NC-11).
“Today’s Supreme Court decision is a monumental victory for children, families, and common sense. The Court rightly affirmed that states have the authority—and the responsibility—to protect minors from irreversible medical harm masquerading as ‘healthcare.’ No child is born in the wrong body. What’s being sold to vulnerable children as ‘affirming care’ is a dangerous and ideologically driven form of medical malpractice. Administering puberty blockers, wrong-sex hormones, and performing life-altering surgeries on children is not medicine—it’s child abuse. I commend the people of Tennessee and every state standing up to this madness. It’s time to end the influence of radical activist networks and medical profiteers who are exploiting confused and vulnerable youth. Doctors and adults who promote these practices have no place in positions of trust. This ruling marks the beginning of the end for the transgender industrial complex’s grip on our laws, our schools, and our children’s lives. I will continue fighting in Congress to protect America’s youth and restore sanity to our institutions," said Rep. Bob Onder (MO-03).
“The Supreme Court made the right call by upholding Tennessee’s commonsense law protecting kids from irreversible procedures. No child should be subjected to radical gender surgeries. Let kids develop naturally. Let kids be kids. Quit trying to play God. Under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, Congress is stepping up to make sure taxpayer dollars aren’t funding these dangerous experiments on our children. I’m proud to support this effort to defend kids, support parents, and protect future generations from these barbaric practices,” said Rep. Jimmy Patronis (FL-01).
"I am grateful that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled to ban transgender treatments for minors. I will continue to fight the woke agenda of the Left,"said Rep. Michael Guest (MS-03). |
