Chairman Pfluger to Brian Kilmeade: Suffering American Families Are Only Leverage to the Democrats

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the government shutdown enters its sixth week, Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined the Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox News Radio to expose how Democrats are weaponizing the shutdown as federal workers have missed paychecks, airports are facing control tower staffing shortages, and SNAP benefits for 42 million Americans are threatened.

Despite House Republicans passing a clean continuing resolution to end the crisis, Senate Democrats have blocked thirteen additional attempts to reopen the government. Chairman Pfluger warned that Democrats are deliberately stalling until after tomorrow's election, holding struggling American families hostage to gain political leverage.

Chairman Pfluger on Senate Democrats Refusing to Vote for the Clean Continuing Resolution:
“I mean, obviously, they're waiting for these elections. They're waiting for tomorrow night. And I mean, 42 plus million Americans are hurting on SNAP, and you've got the military families that that are hurting, and you've got other federal workers who aren't getting paid, by the way, when when the shoe was on the other foot and Biden and Pelosi were in charge, we voted to keep the government open because of this nonsense, because we were the adults in the room.”

Chairman Pfluger on Democrats Holding the Government Hostage for Partisan Demands:
“It would be a horrible precedent if Democrats would learn that they can hold the American people hostage anytime they choose. Remember what Katherine Clark said. She said last week that she knows American families are struggling, yet that's the only time that they have leverage. American families are only leverage to them. I care about the American family. They're the most valuable asset we have. Democrats, we know for long, many, many years, have not cared about them, and they said the quiet part out loud.”

Chairman Pfluger on Former President Obama Attempting to Lead the Democrat Party:
“Instead of praising the President during a shutdown for going to the Middle East and doing a historic peace deal. Instead of praising the President for going to Asia and bringing countries together to take the temperature down, which we needed, [President Obama]  is talking about Truth Social and White House events. Give me a break. I mean, the guy is just completely rudderless, as is the Democrat Party. And he's the author of that. He is the author of this period of wandering in the desert, which they're doing.”
