Chairman Pfluger Joins Mornings with Maria to Discuss the Latest on the Ceasefire Agreement and the Importance of Airpower

June 24, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined Mornings with Maria this morning to discuss President Trump's brokered ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel and to assess the successful airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities over the weekend. As a former F-22 fighter pilot, Pfluger praised the 125-aircraft mission's precision and reiterated the importance of the RSC's maximum pressure campaign on Iran. He emphasized reinvesting in American Airpower, highlighting Trump's reinitiation of the F-47 program canceled under the Biden administration and called for continued funding for military technology.

Highlights of the conversation can be found below and the full interview can be found HERE.

Maria Bartiromo: "Was this just the fog of war? Or, you know, should we just not trust Iran to keep a promise?"

Chairman Pfluger: "I don't trust Iran. We have to verify for sure. This is exactly why the Republican Study Committee has offered the Maximum Pressure campaign. To make sure that every aspect, whether it's economic, diplomatic, or military is maximized to keep the pressure on Iran."

Maria Bartiromo:  "So what about those stealth bomber pilots? I mean, you have to know what they were feeling as they were in the middle of partly a decoy. And it was incredible discipline, no leaks whatsoever. The Iranians didn't know what happened until our pilots were on their way back. How would you assess what just took place Saturday night? How would you assess what just took place Saturday night?"

Chairman Pfluger: "It's an incredible moment for Airpower to have 125 planes join up in the sky at precise timing. I mean, we're talking within a minute, very minimal communications to go in and to carry out a very complex mission where they drop these penetrating weapons. I know it from the F-22 side...the aircraft that is there to ensure that no enemy fighters can attack the B-2s, that the B-2s and the bombers can make sure that their weapons get onto the target on time. But I have to say, Secretary Hegseth and General Caine had outstanding leadership on the operational security to not have any leaks to make this the element of surprise truly happen, not just in Iran, but worldwide. That is quite a feat."
