January 13, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) penned a new op-ed in The Hill on the urgency for House conservatives to pass a second reconciliation bill to make the American Dream affordable again. The piece comes as the Chairman unveiled the RSC’s framework for a reconciliation bill focused on lowering costs for hardworking American families and codifying President Trump’s America First agenda.

“Republicans have always had better policy solutions for American families. Now we have the opportunity to continue delivering them. Our party has 12 months of guaranteed majorities in Washington. It’s whether we’ll seize this opportunity to advance the policy solutions American families desperately need...

The first reconciliation bill of the 119th Congress delivered the largest tax cut in American history, $140 billion in border security funding, and comprehensive welfare reform that honors the working American. It is one of the most significant conservative legislative victories in modern memory. But that legislative victory only covers part of President Trump’s agenda. Much of it still lives in executive orders and regulatory actions that can be undone the moment a Democrat enters the Oval Office.”
