Chairman Pfluger: Peace Through Strength is a Doctrine, and American Patriots and Warfighters Are Executing It
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) appeared on Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy to discuss President Trump's Peace Through Strength doctrine in practice and to expose the Democrats’ hypocrisy on war powers.
Drawing on his experience as a combat-decorated Air Force fighter pilot, Pfluger made clear that President Trump acted decisively within the same authority exercised by every Commander in Chief since World War II.
Chairman Pfluger also honored the intelligence community for their indispensable role in the operation's success, praising the American warfighters and intelligence professionals who are changing history and making the world a safer place.
Highlights of the conversation can be found below and the full interview can be found HERE and below.
Chairman Pfluger on the Democrats’ Hypocrisy: "Congress hasn't declared war since World War II, and every conflict we've been in has been executed with Article Two constitutional authority...This is no different. Obama's use, Biden's use, Clinton's use — doesn't matter which president we're talking about [since 1942], they've used their authority according to Article Two of the Constitution. Democrats are wholly and completely incapable of thinking in national security terms…Joe Biden had strikes on Iranian proxies and a variety of terrorist encampments that Iran sponsored, and Democrats cheered them…that's the difference. President Trump made a bold decision and he is 100 percent within his constitutional right."
Chairman Pfluger on President Trump's Bold Decision: "I applaud President Trump for making a bold decision that, quite frankly, no other president could have or would have made. He has finally taken the fight to a regime that for 47 years has sowed chaos and terror throughout the region and throughout the world. I saw it firsthand as they armed Hezbollah and Hamas. President Trump has made the decision to make the world a safer place, and he has the authority to do so."
Chairman Pfluger on the Intelligence Community as Unsung Heroes: "They are the unsung heroes who prepare the environment, prepare the battlefield, make sure that the effects we levy — whether kinetic or non-kinetic — have the right effect on the outcome, which is success and winning. Intelligence is 100 percent critical in the airstrikes and in every other effect we are levying. Our prayers are with these American heroes because they truly are changing history and making the world a safer place."
