Chairman Pfluger on Sunday Morning Futures: Republicans Are Locking In American Energy Dominance for Generations.

May 3, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures today with a direct message: Democrats tried to kill American energy dominance and gut the foundation of our economy. Republicans and President Trump are unleashing it, and Congress must use reconciliation to make it permanent.

For Chairman Pfluger, executive action alone is not enough. The RSC’s Reconciliation Framework includes a robust energy pillar with one clear goal: make American energy dominance permanent. Democrats have already proven they will gut it the moment they have power, and that is a risk America cannot afford.

Chairman Pfluger was clear that the stakes extend far beyond energy policy. American energy dominance is the long-term answer to Iran's threats in the Strait of Hormuz. OPEC is unreliable, the Middle East is unstable, and the United States is the world's most reliable and affordable source of oil and gas.

Key highlights from the interview are below:

Chairman Pfluger on Permanently Establishing American Energy Dominance: "Democrats wanted to kill that. They wanted to kill our strength, kill the foundation of our economy. And Republicans under Trump's first administration and now again are unleashing American energy which makes our country stronger in every way, shape, and form."

Chairman Pfluger on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz: "This should not be viewed as just a short-term because the strait is closed.... OPEC is unreliable. The United States of America due to West Texas production is the reliable and affordable source. We need to continue to legislate a predictable environment that gives U.S. production the chance to continue to increase. We need to refill the SPR right now, keep strong partnerships and alliances to move that oil, and keep our world and freedoms safe."

Chairman Pfluger on codifying President Trump's permitting executive orders: "That's what I mean by legislating a predictable environment. Let's get to the point where these companies can innovate and be strong."
