Doctor's Orders: Senator Rick Scott and Chairman Pfluger Prescribe MACA in Exclusive Interview

December 16, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) welcomed Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) to the latest episode of Right to the Point, marking the first time a U.S. Senator has joined the podcast. The Senator delivered the diagnosis Washington doesn't want to hear: Obamacare is now a code blue.

Chairman Pfluger and Senator Scott broke down how their More Affordable Care Act (MACA) puts patients first and big insurance companies last, kills government dependency, and gives hardworking families actual health care freedom.

Senator Scott brings the credentials: he built the nation's largest hospital company from scratch and added 1.7 million jobs as Florida's Governor. His diagnosis? Obamacare failed the American people, and MACA is the cure.

Key highlights from the podcast episode are below:

Senator Scott on Obamacare's Broken Promises: "Obamacare was sold on a lie. You know what they said? 'Oh, you keep your doctor' – lie. 'Keep your plan' – lie. 'You're going to save $2,500 a family' – complete lie. Think about premiums are up, co-payments are up. Deductibles are up."

Chairman Pfluger on MACA: "One of the criticisms I get at town halls... Democrats even will say, 'Yeah, we know it's not good, but what's the GOP answer?' And this, the More Affordable Care Act, is an answer."

Senator Scott on Shopping Across State Lines: "I can buy my suit anywhere I want. I can buy groceries and have them sent to me. Why shouldn't I be able to buy health care across state lines? Selling across state lines, allowing people to consolidate into Association plans—all these things are going to drive down the cost of health care."
