April 10, 2025

WASHINGTON DC - In Case You Missed It: The Republican Study Committee (RSC) hosted Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Michael Faulkender on Capitol Hill. The Deputy Secretary briefed RSC members on the Administration's economic agenda, with particular focus on making the Trump tax cuts permanent, addressing the debt ceiling, and the budget reconciliation process.

"Deputy Secretary Faulkender provided vital insights on the Treasury Department's aggressive economic agenda. On an extraordinarily busy day for the Administration including the President's significant tariff announcements, we appreciate the Deputy Secretary taking time to engage directly with RSC members and reaffirm Treasury's dedication to policies that put American workers and businesses first," said Chairman August Pfluger.

BACKGROUND: The Republican Study Committee (RSC), the oldest and largest conservative caucus in the House, represents the leading voice for conservative values in Congress. The RSC is home to over 189 strong members, fighting every single day for the American people.

ON TARIFF ANNOUNCEMENT: Chairman August Pfluger released this statement immediately following President Trump’s announcement yesterday:

"President Trump's decision to raise tariffs on China to 125% sends a clear message: the era of China taking advantage of American workers and businesses is over. For far too long, China has manipulated world markets, stolen American intellectual property, and engaged in predatory trade practices at our expense. The President is making good on his campaign promise to shake up trade relations and put Americans first. By creating leverage and bringing numerous countries to the negotiating table, he is delivering for American workers, manufacturers, and our nation's future. As Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, I fully support these decisive actions that isolate China as the problem while rewarding countries willing to play by fair rules. The days of giving China a free pass are over."
