ICYMI: RSC Members Applaud House Passage of the Secure America Act to Democrat-Proof the Border

June 10, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  In Case You Missed It (ICYMI), the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 2, the Secure America Act, locking in $70 billion in funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for the full remainder of President Trump's term. Every Democrat in both chambers voted against the bill. Using reconciliation to bypass Democratic obstruction, House Republicans ensured the radical Left can never again hold border security funding hostage.

The Secure America Act Invests:

  • $70 billion total for border security

  • $38 billion for ICE

  • $26 billion for CBP

  • $5 billion for DHS contingency funding

Here is what Members of the Republican Study Committee are saying:

"For years, the Left surrendered our border to chaos and held crucial funding hostage every chance they got. Through the Secure America Act, Republicans are Schumer-proofing the border to keep American communities safe through the remainder of President Trump's term. This bill invests $70 billion in the Border Patrol agents and ICE officers taking down cartels, stopping human traffickers, and keeping violent criminal aliens off America’s streets. The Democrats chose open borders, so Republicans are using reconciliation, the most powerful tool available to circumvent obstruction, to finish the job without them,” said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11).

“House Republicans are protecting American families and communities, while Democrats are refusing to address the border crisis they created. Under the Biden Administration, our borders were wide open, and America saw millions of illegal crossings, record-high fentanyl trafficking, and dangerous criminals running rampant through our streets. Today, Republicans delivered real results for the safety of our Nation: securing the border, protecting our families, and investing in the brave law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to keep us safe,” said RSC Vice Chair Ben Cline (VA-06).

“Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and House Republicans, we have finally delivered full, multi-year funding for our heroic immigration enforcement officers,” said RSC Messaging Task Force Chair Mark Alford (MO-04). "After Democrats reneged on a bipartisan, bicameral appropriations deal—followed by months of stalling, gaslighting, and obstruction—the only option left to ensure ICE and CBP has the resources needed to keep our great nation safe was the reconciliation process. I’m proud of the work we did with our Republican Study Committee colleagues to hold the line and get this done. I look forward to President Trump signing this legislation into law so we can continue getting criminal illegal aliens off our streets to keep our communities safe."

“The far-left’s commitment to open borders has caused countless tragedies that were entirely preventable, from rape and murder to deadly traffic crashes. Now is no time to jeopardize effective border enforcement as our nation continues to confront overseas disease and conflict. Congress must fund ICE and CBP as America goes on to welcome millions of visitors from around the planet for the FIFA World Cup in the summer of our 250th anniversary,” said RSC Article One Task Force Chair Harriet Hageman (WY-AL).

"The American people demanded a secure border and safer communities. Reconciliation 2.0 delivers on both,” said RSC Emerging Technologies Task Force Chair Kat Cammack (R-FL). "This gives ICE and CBP the resources to do their jobs: enforce the law, secure the border, and protect our communities. The men and women on the front lines have carried this fight with one hand tied behind their backs for too long. That ends now.”

“Ensuring our homeland security professionals, like hundreds of my constituents, receive their paycheck and have the necessary resources they need to do their jobs fully and effectively is of critical importance," said Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06). “It is truly despicable that hardworking DHS employees from across Southeastern Arizona have gone without paychecks for over 75 days now, and were caught in the middle of political games put on by Senate Democrats, including Arizona’s two Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego. For a fifth time, I was proud to vote in favor of the men and women who defend our homeland. This vote was long overdue for not only Arizona’s Sixth District, but America as a whole.”

“Republicans reopened the government and delivered the resources our Border Patrol agents and ICE officers need to do their jobs. After Democrats held up this funding for months, House Republicans restored order at the border, and we must keep that momentum going. Americans deserve a secure border, safer communities, and a government that puts their security first,” said Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24).

“After months of delay, we finally passed the Secure America Act. This bill funds CPB and ICE through Fiscal Year 2029. House Republicans are guaranteeing these agencies have the necessary resources to carry out President Trump’s border agenda and ensuring congressional Democrats will no longer be able to stifle funding required to keep Americans safe. Republicans are ensuring these dedicated personnel have the resources needed to disrupt cartels, combat human trafficking and drug smuggling, and remove public safety threats from our communities. Republicans will continue to support DHS and the important work of law enforcement officers to keep our country safe and secure,” said Rep. Michael Guest (MS-03).

“Under the Biden Administration, more than 10 million illegal immigrants crossed our southern border. This included drug smugglers, human traffickers, criminal organizations, and even terrorists on the FBI watchlist. After walking away on a negotiated appropriations package to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security, Democrats have repeatedly dug their heels in, playing political games with DHS funding. Today’s legislation ensures that those who protect our southern border cannot be held hostage again. This legislation was long overdue. Under my friend and fellow Oklahoman, Secretary Mullin, I know the department will continue to ensure our border is closed, ultimately protecting our homeland," said Rep. Stephanie Bice (OK-05).

“The passage of Reconciliation 2.0 is a decisive victory for law and order, border security, and the American people. For years, Democrats have deliberately kept our borders wide open, putting the interests of illegal aliens ahead of the safety and security of American citizens. This legislation shatters their hostage-like tactics and delivers a major win for the America First agenda. It strengthens our border, restores accountability, and puts the needs of hardworking Americans back where they belong: first,” said Rep. Abe Hamadeh (AZ-08).

"President Trump was elected by the American people to secure our border and undo the lawlessness of the Biden Administration. Tens of millions of people are in this country illegally, and the American people voted to reclaim American sovereignty. This critical legislation gives our brave ICE and CBP officers the tools they need to secure our homeland in the face of violence and intimidation from the radical Left. I’m proud to have voted for this bill, and I look forward to the President signing the bill into law,” said Rep. Riley Moore (WV-02).

“After years of disastrous open-border policies, the American people demanded change—and Republicans answered. The Secure America Act locks in the progress President Trump and House Republicans have made, ensuring no one—including the majority of Democrats—can obstruct the secure border we have fought to deliver. We are funding law enforcement, stopping cartels, and protecting communities across this country,” said Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01).

“It has been 116 days since funding for ICE and CBP lapsed, endangering Americans for almost a third of 2026. After a months long struggle with do nothing Democrats, Republicans finally secured Homeland Security funding for the Americans who are desperate for safety and paychecks for our heroes who deserve them. Democrats have proven what they truly value: illegal aliens instead of the safety of American citizens,” said Rep. Marlin Stutzman (IN-03).

“For 77 days, Democrats held the Department of Homeland Security hostage, and the brave men and women of ICE and Border Patrol paid the price. These officers continued protecting our border, hunting down child traffickers, and putting themselves in harm’s way without knowing when their next paycheck would come. Montana does not pay ransoms, and neither should Congress. The Secure America Act fully funds ICE and Customs and Border Protection, strengthens security at our southern, maritime, and northern borders, and ensures Washington politicians cannot use law enforcement officers as political leverage again. I proudly wore the uniform of this country, and I will always stand with the men and women who wear one now,” said Rep. Troy Downing (MT-02).

“I represent Middle Tennessee. Our state has over seven million people. Under the Biden administration, the illegal alien population in our country increased to an estimated 14 million people. That’s double my entire state. Most of those people were allowed in without vetting and disappeared across the country. And the people tasked with cleaning up that mess are the very people Democrats vilify every day. I was proud to vote for the Secure America Act because it will allow the brave men and women of ICE and CBP to do their jobs and enforce the laws this body passed,” said Rep. Matt Van Epps (TN-07).
