ICYMI: RSC Members Mark 250 Years of American Excellence, Highlight Trump Accounts and the Fight for the Next Generation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In Case You Missed It, (ICYMI) Members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) reflected on the policies they championed to help secure America’s future, from delivering historic tax cuts for hardworking Americans, to launching Trump Accounts for the next generation, to strengthening support for the men and women in uniform, to unleashing healthcare innovation, and expanding opportunities for Americans from Day One.

As the United States celebrates its semiquincentennial, here’s what some members of RSC wrote to celebrate 250 years of American greatness and their vision for the next 250: 

“Parents should welcome a new baby with joy instead of financial dread, which is why I’m proud to champion the rollout of Trump Accounts. This policy hands a real, wealth-building asset directly to the next generation of Americans, my own daughter included. It’s fitting that this program launches as America celebrates its 250th birthday… The mechanics of the program are simple and explicitly designed to bypass traditional financial gatekeepers. Every American child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, is eligible for a $1,000 seed deposit from the U.S. Treasury into a tax-advantaged investment account opened in that child’s own name,” wrote Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03) for the Daily Caller. 

“This year, America's 250th birthday comes with something extra worth celebrating: it's also the one-year anniversary of the Working Families Tax Cuts, the largest tax cut in American history for hardworking families, signed into law by President Trump… In May, the economy added 172,000 jobs, beating expert expectations for the third straight month. U.S. manufacturing activity just hit a four-year high. These aren't coincidences. This is the direct result of good policy. And perhaps the most important thing the Working Families Tax Cuts did was what they prevented. The 2017 tax cuts were set to expire. Without action, American families would have faced the largest tax hike in our nation's history. We made those lower rates permanent. We locked in the doubled standard deduction. A family of four now pays zero federal income tax on their first $35,900 of earnings,” wrote Rep. Rudy Yakym (IN-02) for the Times-Union. 

“For four years, the Left tore down statues, rewrote the history books, and treated American greatness as something to apologize for rather than something to defend… The American people looked at that vision and rejected it. Not because they are naive about this country’s past, but because they understand something the revisionist project never could: a nation that cannot believe in itself cannot defend itself… The mandate voters delivered is being met. The Working Families Tax Cuts delivered the most consequential pro-family tax relief in a generation, making it easier for working parents to raise a family, buy a home, and keep more of what they earn,” wrote RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) for the Odessa American.   

“America could not have reached its 250th year without service and sacrifice. Generations of Americans built and defended the foundation of freedom we stand on today, and the threats to that freedom are not going away. Honoring that legacy means supporting our servicemen in every way we can. In Congress, that means robustly funding the Department of War, scrapping outdated policies that hinder the warfighter, and ensuring our forces have the tools not just to fight a war, but to win it. No American soldier, sailor, airman, guardian, or marine should ever meet an enemy on equal footing. A fair fight is a policy failure. Matching an adversary’s capabilities is not victory. The advantage should always be ours,” wrote Rep. Matt Van Epps (TN-07) for the Daily Wire.  

“‘No taxation without representation’ wasn't just a slogan. It was the spark of a revolution. Two hundred fifty years later, I think about that fight every time I talk with folks across East Tennessee, because in many ways, it's still the fight we're having today. For too long, Washington treated the American taxpayer like a blank check, and working families, seniors and small business owners footed the bill. That's why, one year ago, I was proud to vote for the Working Families Tax Cuts legislation which President Trump signed into law. And one year in, the results are clear: this law is delivering on the promise our founders made in 1776, that the people who do the work should keep the fruits of their labor,” wrote Rep. Diana Harshbarger (TN-01) for the TimesNews. 

“Millions of people around the world are living longer and healthier lives because of discoveries made in American laboratories and delivered by American healthcare professionals… Our nation’s semiquincentennial is a fitting moment to renew that vision. The first 250 years of American history were marked by extraordinary advances in science, medicine, and human ingenuity. If we remain committed to discovery, accountability, and putting patients at the center of healthcare, there is every reason to believe the next two hundred and fifty years will bring even greater progress. The greatest legacy we can leave future generations is not simply a longer life, but a healthier one,” wrote Rep. Aaron Bean (FL-04) for Florida’s Voice.
