Moran, Knott: Democrat Immigration Policies Are Borderline Insanity

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a brand-new episode of the Republican Study Committee's (RSC) Right to the Point podcast, Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) sits down with Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13) to discuss the recent invasion at Spain’s border, the parallels they see with the Biden-era border crisis, and what those developments mean for the future of U.S. border security and immigration.

Last week, more than 50,000 migrants from North Africa invaded the Spanish city of Ceuta. The invasion reflected the consequences of Spain’s weak border enforcement and permissive immigration policies, reminding the Members of the years under the Biden-Harris administration, when millions of illegal aliens invaded our country and wreaked havoc across American communities.

Thankfully, President Trump has restored law and order at the U.S. southern border, and the decline in illegal border crossings and apprehensions shows just how effective strong enforcement can be. Rep. Moran and Rep. Knott highlight investments made to help deliver President Trump’s border security agenda through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act and the Secure America Act.

Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01): “It was truly a shocking sight. There were…about 50,000 people that surged Ceuta’s border barriers right there across land and sea. When you saw this, what was your reaction?”

Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13): “The Prime Minister of Spain, he is a very proud Leftist. He is a Socialist. He is extremely vocal about his pro-mass migration policies. Spain has an unbelievably generous entitlement system. They have public programs for every type of want, need, and so forth. By extension, they have attracted hundreds of thousands of people, mainly from the Middle East or Northern Africa, into Spain over the last couple of years. And the Prime Minister of Spain, he underwent a mass amnesty effort a short while ago. And when you are an ardent Leftist, when you promote, I would say, far too generous of a safety net, and you're pro-illegal immigration in the form of granting amnesty to people who are in your country illegally, this is altogether foreseeable.”

Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01): “If we're looking back in the Biden-Harris administration, it's amazing to see the parallels between what's going on now in Spain and what went on then in the United States just a couple of years ago…”

Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13): “When I was working for the Department of Justice, there was such an obvious effect that worsened every type of crime because of the open border. And I had cases that touched dozens of states, 30 or 40 states, when I was doing this kind of work, and the part that was the most disheartening and illuminating was you have sanctuary states, like California, Illinois, parts of the Northeast, and those sanctuary states really serve like cancer clusters for the rest of the country.”

Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01): “We probably have a whole lot of lingering impacts from the four years of the Biden-Harris administration on this open border…”

Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13): “Over 1.5 million Americans have died, and that's just from overdosing on drugs. That's not because of the accompanying gang violence. You look at MS-13. You look at the other cartels that are in the country. You look at how many people have lost their lives in effect because of drug overdoses, because of all the accompanying issues that come with the drug trafficking, the gang violence, and so forth. You really can't quantify. You cannot quantify what a million and a half American lives means.”

Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01): “We are actually returning to that era of strong and secure borders, restoring American sovereignty and strength on the world stage, and enforcing that rule of law under President Trump's leadership. Border crossings, human smuggling, and drug trafficking are now at some of the lowest levels in our nation's history, thanks to the strength that he's bringing back…” 

Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13): “In the Working Families Tax Cuts that you and I were a part of, one of the biggest things that the President did is he really incentivized investment at all levels into the United States…One thing that I just absolutely celebrate is the President has said, ‘Well, why can't we? Why can't we? Why can't we reward those forgotten Americans who are trying to get a leg up? Those who work overtime. Those who are saving their Social Security check, taking tips as a side job.’ You know, these are the Americans that make the economy move. These are the Americans that are trying to get up the ladder, and no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, no tax on Social Security. Those are the people who are celebrating what the President has done, and above all else, what he's doing is he's saying it's still possible. It's still possible to work. It's still possible to save, and it's still possible to advance, and again, the Working Families Tax Cuts, it is a monumental and transformative piece of legislation.”

Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01): “[Democrats are the] ones that were cutting the funding for CBP and ICE earlier. And they're totally against voter identification, which we know they've been hampering our efforts to get to pass the SAVE America Act…They don't support Dalilah's Law. They simply stand against those things that you and I would say, ‘That's just common sense. That's not Republican or Democrat. That's just American right there.’ But seemingly their party has gone so far left that they have lost their ability to connect with Middle America.”
