Mr. Presler Goes to Washington to Save America's Elections

February 13, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Republican Study Committee (RSC) released the latest episode of its "Right to the Point" podcast, featuring Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) and election integrity champion Scott Presler making the definitive case for the SAVE America Act and delivering a clear message to the Senate: the House did its job, now do yours.

Rep. Roy, the lead sponsor of the legislation, broke down exactly what the bill does: requires proof of citizenship to register to vote, empowers states to check voter rolls against citizenship databases, and adds a commonsense voter ID requirement. The bill includes religious exemptions for groups like the Amish, affidavit options for women whose names have changed and who have not had time to update their documents, and flexibility for states to build their own systems.

Presler walked through documented, real-world examples of the vulnerabilities this critical legislation is designed to close. In Minnesota, a single voter can vouch for up to eight people with no ID required, a loophole that mattered when Al Franken won his Senate seat by just 312 votes in 2008 and went on to cast the decisive 60th vote for Obamacare. In California, getting off the voter rolls requires a mailed cancellation form, leaving millions of ghost registrations in a state where John Duarte lost his congressional seat by just 187 votes. In Michigan, a county clerk discovered noncitizens on the voter rolls who had actually cast ballots. These are documented cases of voter fraud, and pretending otherwise is a massive issue.

The House heard that message loud and clear from the American people, passing the SAVE America Act by a vote of 218-213. Every Democrat who voted against this bill chose election loopholes over the will of the American people. Eighty-three percent of Americans support voter ID, including 76 percent of Black Americans and 82 percent of Latino Americans. The mandate could not be clearer, and the Senate needs to act.

Highlights from the exclusive interview are below:

Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21): "It is demonstrably true that there are people who are voting today who shouldn't be. There are demonstrative cases of fraud that we've proved, and we should end it so people have trust in our elections again."

Scott Presler: "Besides securing the border and deportation of criminal illegal aliens, the single most important, most transformative thing we can do to truly safeguard our nation is election integrity, which starts with the SAVE America Act."

Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21): "When was the last time you had a true Mr. Smith Goes to Washington debate on the floor of the Senate? They just put in quorum calls, walk away, go to meetings, and never do their job. We're just asking them to do their job for the American people."

Scott Presler: "Right now, Senators get to hide behind a 60-vote threshold that everybody knows is likely not to happen. So they get to feign support for a bill they never want to see come to the Senate floor. We are forcing them to lift that veil."
