November 14, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.  The Republican Study Committee released a new video as House Republicans voted to reopen the government, ending the Democrats' 43-day reckless shutdown.

For over six weeks, Democrats held America hostage for their radical wish list—and got nothing in return to show for it.

Read a full transcript of the video below:

Rep. Mark Alford: “America will no longer be held hostage.”

RSC Chairman August Pfluger: "The hostage crisis is ending. Republicans are voting once again to fund the government, and Democrats have come away with nothing except for the suffering of American families."

Rep. Brandon Gill: “Democrats shut the government down for over 6 weeks, deliberately harming the American people in order to pursue a set of radical policy goals that they knew was unrealistic.”

Rep. Tim Moore: “A shutdown that has impacted the lives of real Americans.”

Rep. Warren Davidson: “The longest shutdown in recorded history.”

Rep. Bill Huizenga: “Democrats dragged this out. It didn't need to happen.”

Rep. Mark Harris: "It's as simple as this: Democrats gambled with America's future and walked away with nothing but a broken caucus and broken promises.”

Rep. Aaron Bean: “It didn't have to be this way.”

Rep. Jimmy Patronis: “The shutdown ended exactly as we knew it would: with Democrats' total surrender."

Rep. Harriet Hageman: “We voted to reopen the government with a Republican-led clean funding bill.”

Rep. Randy Weber: “We said no to the Left’s reckless plan to pile on another $1.5 trillion in wasteful spending.”

Rep. Aaron Bean: “We're not going back to giving illegals health care.”

Rep. Jeff Crank: “No bailouts for failed Obamacare subsidies. No rewards for extortion. Just responsible governance for hardworking families.”

Rep. Tracey Mann: “The Left manufactured this senseless crisis, then weaponized the suffering of American families as leverage.”

RSC Chairman August Pfluger: “Instead of supporting our families, it was leveraging them, only hurting every American but not actually moving our country forward.”

Rep. Bill Huizenga: “It's hard to believe that the Democrats were doing this just so that they could deliver health care for illegal aliens. Outrageous and beyond the pale.”

Rep. Harriet Hageman: “It's as disgraceful as it is predictable.”

Rep. Marlin Stutzman: “We need to remember that the Democrats did not look out for the American people over the last month and a half.”

Rep. Jeff Crank: “Democrats proved they're good at manufacturing crises. Republicans just proved we're better at ending them.”

Rep. Randy Weber: “Congressional Republicans never wavered. We stayed united. We stood our ground for the folks who get up every morning, go to work, pay their taxes, and keep this country moving.”

Rep. Zach Nunn: “We passed what's absolutely essential for our country to open back up again and make sure families can get where they need to be this holiday season.”
