One Big Beautiful Sequel: RSC Chairman Launches Working Group for Second Reconciliation Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the passage of the historic One Big Beautiful Bill, Republican Study Committee Chairman (RSC) August Pfluger (TX-11) announced the creation of the RSC Reconciliation 2.0 Working Group. This strategic initiative will spearhead the RSC's efforts to forge a robust conservative policy framework for a second reconciliation bill.
"The One Big Beautiful Bill represents a generational victory for the conservative movement and the American people," said Chairman August Pfluger. "We must capitalize on the momentum we’ve generated in the first 6 months of a Republican trifecta in Washington. To fulfill the promises we made to the American people, conservatives must begin laying the groundwork for the second reconciliation bill to ensure we continue to drive down the cost of living and restore America’s promise for future generations."
The RSC Reconciliation 2.0 Working Group represents the first organized effort by lawmakers in the House or Senate to chart a concrete policy roadmap for the second reconciliation bill. This demonstrates the committee’s continued leadership in the Congressional budget process.
Over the upcoming district work period, Members will return to their home districts to convey the importance of the One Big Beautiful Bill, and hear directly from their constituents on what conservative policy proposals should guide the House’s deliberations on a second reconciliation bill.
Chairman Pfluger has directed the Working Group to solicit policy proposals from RSC Members, conservative allies in the Senate, and conservative grassroots groups. The Working Group’s efforts will culminate in the release of a policy framework, providing recommendations for the focus, aims, and goals of the second reconciliation bill.
The Republican Study Committee has established itself as the driving force behind harnessing the reconciliation process to achieve conservative victories, forcing fiscal discipline into the reconciliation process when others were content with the status quo. Earlier this year, the RSC called for the first reconciliation bill to be deficit reductive and successfully garnered more savings for the American people in the One Big Beautiful Bill as a result. The RSC Reconciliation 2.0 Working Group will again leverage the reconciliation process to achieve key policy victories for the conservative movement and the American people.
