This One Cuts Deep: RSC Applauds Passage of $9 Billion Rescissions Package

July 18, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger and RSC Rescissions Working Group Chair Riley Moore applauded the passage of the rescissions package to cut $9 billion in woke, wasteful spending.

The RSC has long supported the use of rescissions to rein in out-of-control spending, formally endorsing President Trump's first rescissions package when it was sent to Congress in 2017. Recognizing the need to honor the commitment we made to the American people to eliminate woke, wasteful, and weaponized spending, the RSC has decided to accelerate our efforts by establishing the Rescissions Working Group led by Rep. Riley Moore (WV-02).

With passage of this historic rescissions package, Republicans are officially ending foreign aid that benefits America's enemies, eliminating senseless spending by defunding Leftist propaganda networks, cutting USAID slush funds, and stopping foreign aid fraud. Members of the RSC emphasized the significance of this victory:

“House Republicans made a promise to the American people to slash wasteful spending that hardworking taxpayers have been footing the bill for. I sincerely thank Congressman Riley Moore for spearheading the RSC’s efforts to end the funding of woke and Leftist propaganda. Victories like this demonstrate why the RSC remains the conservative backbone of the House Republican Conference,” said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11).

“The American people know waste, fraud, and abuse when they see it, and this package represents the worst of the worst. I’m proud to have voted ‘Yes’ on this legislation, which finally eliminates funding for leftist propaganda networks and significantly cuts back on woke and weaponized foreign aid programs. As the leader of the Republican Study Committee’s Rescissions Task Force, I’m committed to building support amongst my colleagues to codify more of these DOGE cuts. Doing so will ensure every taxpayer dollar advances America’s strategic interests,” said RSC Rescissions Working Group Chair Riley Moore (WV-02).
