President Trump and Secretary Rollins Harvest Relief While Democrats Reap Chaos
WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the fourth week, Congressional Democrats are holding the government hostage while thousands of farmers await critical United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan payments needed during harvest season. These payments serve as a crucial safety net to American agriculture producers when market prices or farm revenues fall below guaranteed levels and provide vital stability.
Members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) applauded the decision of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to support America’s agricultural producers as Democrats refuse to reopen the government during harvest season:
“FSA offices are critical for American producers to get necessary approvals and payments to make ends meet. After hearing from many South Dakota producers, I made sure the Administration knew opening these offices should be a priority to help farmers. I’m grateful these offices will be reopening tomorrow to put our farmers first and make sure they don’t bear unnecessary burdens during a government shutdown,” said Rep. Dusty Johnson (SD-AL).
"Florida’s farmers and ranchers shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of Washington’s gridlock. Despite the Democrat-led shutdown, President Trump and Secretary Rollins are taking decisive action to reopen FSA offices and resume critical services like loan processing and producer payments. Agriculture is the backbone of our economy—it feeds our families, fuels our communities, and keeps our nation secure. I’m grateful to see this administration standing firmly with America’s producers," said Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03).
“I appreciate President Trump and Secretary Rollins for stepping up to support our producers during one of the busiest seasons of the year,” Fedorchak said. “North Dakotans shouldn’t have to celebrate the reopening of services that should never have been closed in the first place. Until Senate Democrats are willing to support our commonsense solution to fund the government, farmers and families will continue to face unnecessary uncertainty. Thank you, President Trump, for your leadership in mitigating this Schumer mess,” said Rep. Julie Fedorchak (ND-AL).
"Democrats are pandering to their radical activist base while putting everyday Americans—especially our hardworking farmers—dead last. Their reckless government shutdown is crushing the men and women in agriculture, but President Trump and Republicans stand firmly with them!" said Rep. Mark Harris (NC-08).
