Rep. Gill Leads Over Thirty RSC Members in Urging Senate Passage of the SAVE Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Study Committee (RSC) member Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) led 34 of his colleagues in a letter to Senate Rules and Administration Committee Chairman Mitch McConnell (R-KY) urging him to schedule a markup of the SAVE Act. This election integrity legislation would require proof of citizenship to vote while empowering states to clean up voter rolls.
In the letter, first reported by the Daily Wire, the members argue that 83 percent of Americans support requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote, including a majority of registered Democrats. The SAVE Act must be taken up immediately to ensure that U.S. elections are free and fair.
