Rep. Houchin Joins NewsNation to Highlight House Republicans Advancing the America First Agenda
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Erin Houchin (IN-09) joined NewsNation’s Morning in America to discuss the importance of passing the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027 and the SAVE America Act to advance President Trump’s America First agenda.
Rep. Houchin highlighted the FY27 NDAA, which passed the House of Representatives last week, as a critical step toward rebuilding America’s defense industrial base, strengthening deterrence, and providing America’s troops with the tools and capabilities to confront emerging threats. She also emphasized the need for a supplemental defense package to address threats from Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.
Rep. Houchin also underscored the importance of advancing the SAVE America Act to restore election integrity and ensure only Americans can vote in our national elections.

Houchin on the NDAA:
“Passing the NDAA was so important to try to once and for all tamp this down so that we can get shipping moving and gas prices back going in the right direction.”
Houchin on the need for additional defense funding:
“The defense supplemental is very important to make sure that our warfighters have everything that they need and that we are exhibiting Peace through Strength around the world. The worst thing that could happen is to allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon. They were operating in Venezuela before we took out Maduro. And that's a real threat to the homeland of the United States of America…Iran has been a proxy for terror around the world, and it's very close to our shores. If I had one message to the American people, it would be that this has been a war to prevent threats to the homeland, not in a distant country. We're going to make sure that our warfighters and the American people are secure by putting forward this very important funding.”
Houchin on the SAVE America Act:
“[The defense supplemental] has a provision in there that has the Save America Act, which the majority of Americans support. We've been unable to get it through the Senate. The House of Representatives has passed it three times, now four times. So, we do hope that we will get this through.”
