Rep. Stutzman: No Silent Night For Nigeria’s Persecuted Christians

December 24, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.  This Christmas, as millions celebrate in safety, Nigerian Christians face systematic persecution and slaughter for practicing their religion. Republican Study Committee Member Rep. Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) authored a new op-ed in the Daily Caller calling out fifteen years of international silence that enabled the murder of over 50,000 Christians, with 7,000 killed this year alone.

Rep. Stutzman slams the Biden administration for removing the country from the religious freedom watchlist in 2021 and abandoning persecuted Christians, a total moral failure. His Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act is designed to correct by sanctioning officials who facilitate the violence, codifying the Country of Particular Concern designation, and permanently designating Boko Haram and ISIS-West Africa as terror entities.

Congress must follow through with action that matches the scale of the atrocity to ensure this never happens again.
