Reps. Cammack, Yakym: Democrats…Stop Trying to Make Socialism Happen

October 30, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a new episode of the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) Right to the Point podcast, Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03), Emerging Technology Task Force Chair, sits down for an exclusive interview with Rep. Rudy Yakym (IN-02) to discuss how Republicans have worked hard to clean up the mess left behind by the Biden-Harris administration, and what’s at stake as the Democrats increasingly embrace the radical whims of their far-Left wing.

Socialism has spent decades delegated to the political fringes, but a vote on H. Res. 1490, a resolution to condemn socialism in all its forms, introduced by Republican Study Committee (RSC) Member Jeff Crank (CO-05), exposed how far today's Democrat Party has let it spread into the mainstream. 192 Democrats refused to denounce a radical ideology with a record of economic collapse, political repression, the destruction of individual liberties, and the killing of over 100 million people worldwide. “The Real Cost of Socialism” exposes how the policy priorities of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) would add about $49 trillion to federal deficits over ten years, and cost every American household roughly $355,000.

Republicans remain committed to defending the Constitution and the founding principles that have made America the freest and most prosperous nation in the world. The Working Families Tax Cuts Act is helping revitalize American manufacturing, support parents as they build a better future for their children, and put more money back in the pockets of hardworking Americans. The Trump administration has also set up America.gov to help Americans navigate federal services while improving access to information and transparency about the services funded by their tax dollars.

Read highlights from the conversation below:

Rep. Rudy Yakym (IN-02): “I have a general belief, as do the Hoosiers that I serve, that Americans should be able to keep more money in their pockets. And that's why we made the largest tax cut of all time, had that signed into law last year by President Trump on Independence Day, [and] people can just simply keep more of their money. So I'm proud of the record that we've ran on. Democrats want to do just the opposite. Every single Democrat in the House of Representatives voted for a tax increase last year. They came offering zero solutions other than higher taxes that would have put more burdens on our economy.”

Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03): “If you haven’t signed your babies up for Trump Accounts, as Rudy said, this is a game changer…We grew up super working class, and I think about my mom and how, you know, she did what she could to save, but I mean, largely on a fixed income, and this back then could have been a game changer…I’m super excited for all of the kiddos out there that are going to be able to take advantage of it. But broadly, this entire administration has really taken a hard look at not just policies, but how people interact with government services and entities. And the Trump Account is just like a great example of how you know it you interface with the apps, with the websites, and they just launched America.gov.”

Rep. Rudy Yakym (IN-02): “Democrats are fighting for the soul of their party while Republicans are fighting for the soul of America. The reality is, Democrats want to take this country down the path of Socialism and Communism…We’ve had so many brave men and women over the course of the last 100 years that have voluntarily put on the uniform of the United States military, they’ve gone overseas and they have fought to push back Socialism. They have fought to push back Communism. And now you’re going to tell our Cold War veterans that Communism is coming here to America, because that’s what the Democrat Party wants. It’s crazy. This election, to me, is a very clear contrast. It’s a contrast between common sense and communism. It's a contrast between common sense and crazy.”

Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03): “We have folks that are very comfortable with the idea of Socialism because they’ve never lived it. And being in a state like Florida, where so many of our residents and our Floridians fled countries, like your grandfather, they fled from Socialism. They fled from Communism. They’ve seen the horrors of it, and not only is it horrific and destroys families and people and economies and countries, but it is very costly, to the tune of nearly $50 trillion. And I’ve seen some estimates go all the way up to $72 trillion for the entire DSA agenda. So even if you’re just lowballing it at like $49 trillion, that’s like $350,000 per family. A little bit ironic, pretty crazy coming from the folks that are saying and screaming about affordability, right?”
