Republican Study Committee Hosts U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Capitol Hill

February 12, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — At a time when American energy independence has never been more critical to our national security and economic prosperity, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) today hosted Energy Secretary Chris Wright for a landmark meeting charting an aggressive path forward for American energy production.

As Capitol Hill’s largest conservative caucus, the RSC is working in lockstep with the administration to transform President Trump's energy dominance agenda into lasting legislative achievements—cementing them into law with congressional action.

"Under Joe Biden, America went from energy dominance to energy dependence overnight. Those days are over," said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11). "While Biden begged our adversaries for oil, President Trump unleashed American energy independence – and he's just getting started. Today's meeting with Secretary Wright sends a crystal-clear message: we're done playing nice. We’re unleashing American energy production. End of story.

We've already passed my Protecting American Energy Production Act to protect fracking from federal overreach, but that's just the beginning. Working alongside this administration, we're going to take President Trump's energy revolution and cement it into law. The radical left's energy nightmare is the American people's dream come true. The Permian Basin is ready to roar, our workers are ready to drill, and House Republicans are ready to bulldoze every single Biden regulation standing in their way. The era of American energy surrender is over – the era of American energy dominance is back."

"House Republicans know that American energy is the backbone of a strong economy, lower prices, and national security," said U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright. "During President Trump’s first term, our nation achieved energy dominance—and we’re ready to do it again. Thank you to RSC Chairman August Pfluger and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie for helping lead the charge and inviting me to speak at the Republican Study Committee briefing on Capitol Hill today. I look forward to working with House Republicans to unleash American energy and restore our nation’s energy security."

“House Republicans are committed to working alongside the Trump Administration to fulfill our promise to put America first and restore our nation’s prosperity," said Rep. Troy Balderson (OH-12), RSC HEAT Chair. "To usher the United States into a new era of energy dominance, we must embrace the power of American workers and utilize the affordable, abundant energy beneath our feet. I’d like to thank Secretary Wright for meeting with members of the Republican Study Committee and the House Energy Action Team to present his agenda for the Department of Energy and outline his vision for restoring American energy leadership.”

"Secretary Chris Wright is the right man for the job at a critical time. America needs to get back to producing energy, cutting through the bureaucratic red tape, and reclaiming our position as the world's energy leader," said Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14), RSC HEAT Vice-Chair. "We stand ready to work alongside the Department of Energy to unleash the full power of American energy. As a proud representative of the energy capital of the world, I know firsthand that we need to roll back the harmful Green New Deal policies that have been holding America back. You can bet we'll be working overtime to deliver on the America First agenda and get this country back on track."

The Republican Study Committee represents over 180 conservative members of Congress united in this mission: shattering regulatory barriers and unleashing America's full energy potential. Working with President Trump and Secretary Wright, that's exactly what RSC will do in the 119th Congress.
