RSC Chairman Pfluger and Rep. Issa: Ending the District Judges' War on Presidential Authority

April 9, 2025

WASHINGTON DC - Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) and Rep. Darrell Issa (CA-48) penned a joint op-ed in Fox News outlining the dangerous overreach by unelected district judges who have consistently blocked President Trump’s executive orders and actions, often at the expense of national security, and how judicial decisions have increasingly undermined the will of the voters.

The piece is timely as the U.S. House of Representatives just voted to pass the No Rouge Rulings Act, authored by Rep. Issa, to reign in federal judges undermining the constitutional separation of powers.

A snippet from the full piece is below:

No American wants to live next to a terrorist or violent criminal. It’s not controversial. And yet, just like everything Trump does – someone, namely the radical left, has a problem with it.

Thankfully, the Supreme Court has started to push back. Earlier this week, the court reaffirmed the president’s authority to enforce the Alien Enemies Act, rejecting yet another attempt by lower courts to tie the hands of the executive branch.
