RSC Chairman Pfluger: "The President Gave Us a Roadmap, Let's Get Reconciliation 2.0 Done"

March 10, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Today, Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) appeared live on the Scott Jennings Show from the House Republican Issues Conference to discuss the RSC’s work in leading the charge for a second reconciliation bill.

It’s been made clear throughout the 119th Congress that Senate Republicans cannot count on Democrat votes to overcome the 60-vote threshold to pass meaningful legislation. Reconciliation remains the most viable option to pass sweeping legislation and key conservative priorities.

Since January, Chairman Pfluger has stated it would be ‘political malpractice’ for House Republicans to not pursue a second reconciliation bill. The RSC has been at the forefront of this effort, unveiling a framework with a wide variety of policy proposals to lower housing, health care, and energy costs after four years of failed Biden policies.

Read highlights from Chairman Pfluger below:

On Reconciliation 2.0: “President Trump gave us a roadmap yesterday in his speech, and he told us the things that need to happen, and a lot of it revolves around affordability of housing and unwinding four terrible years of inflation that the Biden administration did, that we are fixing it, and he gave us a good roadmap. And I believe that reconciliation is the only option. Democrats are not going to vote for anything. They've shown us that they can't even vote to open up DHS. You have these lines at all these airports. Our homeland security is at risk now, so we can't count on them for a single thing. But what the American public is asking us, and I want to brag on what you told us today, your message resonating. You said, people want to know. Americans want to know that we are interested in them. We are interested in American citizens, we are taking care of their economics, of their security, of their safety, and instead of what Democrats are doing, which is everyone and everything else.”

On President Trump’s Message to House Republicans: “President Trump spent a lot of time talking about transparency and competition and not giving money straight to the insurance companies. That is what our American citizens want. They want their choices when it comes to what plans they're going to purchase and where they're going to go. They want to know that they're getting a good deal, and that's what I think the fundamentals of our reconciliation bill will be, in addition to the fraud that we know exists in places like Minnesota, people want to know that we are holding accountable those who have defrauded the U.S. government and taxpayers. They want to know that we are taking action, and this bill [Reconciliation 2.0] is doing exactly that.”

On brave service members in Operation Epic Fury: “So proud of our military. They're in a fight. I mean, this is a violent regime, and they are fighting a regime who's sending missiles into Abu Dhabi and Doha and Kuwait and other places. So at the same time that they are destroying and degrading those military forces, they're also doing the best they can to make sure that the oil supply and the commercial ships are not attacked, which is very important. But I think first things first, the military business is really important in this fight, and we're praying for all those service members who are part of it.”
