RSC Goes After D.C.'s Crime Crisis
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Study Committee Members (RSC) hammered D.C.’s failed leadership this week in must-read op-eds and across multiple platforms, demanding the nation’s capital be restored to a safe, clean, and beautiful city.
For years, elected officials in the District of Columbia have put violent criminals over the law abiding citizens they are supposed to serve. The radical D.C. City Council implemented soft-on-crime policies in closed-door meetings, circumventing accountability from the public. However, under President Trump, the capital city will once again be restored to its former glory.
“Elected officials and the D.C. City Council turned our nation’s capital into a crime-infested embarrassment, quickly becoming one of the most dangerous cities in the country. President Trump rightfully exercised his authority to restore law and order to safeguard citizens once again. The days of allowing the Left’s soft-on-crime policies to ruin great American cities are over,” said RSC Chairman Pfluger (TX-11).
"Being safe should not be enjoyed by a privileged few but by everyone! President Trump knows this and has successfully reduced every type of crime in D.C. over the last two weeks with simple actions: active policing and criminals. Of course, the Democrats are criticizing these efforts, but the citizens, business owners and families are thrilled. That’s what counts. Thank you, President Trump," said Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13).
"Our nation’s capital has suffered from streets overrun by crime, tent encampments, and rampant lawlessness for too long. Americans should be able to enjoy the beauty of our capital city without fearing for their safety. President Trump's use of established law to bring decisive actions and restore law and order is exactly what D.C. needed. As a result, we are seeing a rapid drop in violent crime across the district, proving that strong leadership works,” said RSC Article One Task Force Chair Harriet Hageman (WY-AL).
