RSC Hosts Secretary Hegseth for Classified Briefing as House Republicans Push to Pass Reconciliation 3.0

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX) today welcomed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to the RSC for a classified briefing on Capitol Hill.  Following the meeting, Chairman Pfluger spoke with reporters about the RSC’s support for the military and made clear that Reconciliation 3.0 is a defining legislative opportunity of this Congress.

"We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a generational impact on our military, really the first time we have done this since President Reagan was in the Oval Office," said RSC Chairman Pfluger. "Secretary Hegseth is pushing very hard for Congress to make that investment, and conservatives are going to lead the charge to make sure future generations have the resources, the weapons systems, and the training they need to defend this country."

Democrats have made clear they will vote against funding the national security apparatus. Reconciliation 3.0 is the only vehicle to fully meet the President's budget request, and conservatives are not going to squander this moment.

"The Republican Study Committee believes in a strong economy. We obviously believe in a strong national security, which includes our military. Unfortunately, we're in a situation right now where Democrats are voting everything against funding our national security apparatus, including our military. The discussion we had today was incredibly important. As a veteran, I know how important it is to fund our military. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a generational impact on our military. Really, the first time we've done this since President Reagan was in the Oval Office. Those discussions are important as it concerns Reconciliation 3.0. We had a really good substantive discussion, and the Secretary is pushing very hard for us in Congress to make that investment. We know that this is important. We know that Democrats are going to vote against it, and I think that conservatives are going to lead the charge to make sure that future generations have the resources, have the weapons systems, are trained, and are outfitted to make sure that they defend this country."
