RSC Leadership Releases Statement on President Trump's State of the Union Address

February 24, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tonight, President Trump delivered a clear message to Congress: America is respected, stronger, and secure again. In one year, President Trump alongside Congressional Republicans delivered on their promises to secure the border, extend crucial tax relief, and make life affordable again.

The Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman, Vice-Chair, and Task Force Chairs issued the following statements in response to President Trump’s State of the Union address:

"President Trump did what Washington said was impossible, what the media said would never happen, and what radical Democrats prayed he couldn't do. We have a military that is feared and respected again, a border that is secure again, and families who are finally starting to see relief after years of being crushed by 4 years of Democrat-driven inflation. This is halftime, and the second half is where we finish the job. House conservatives are ready, the agenda is clear, and we are not done fighting for the families who sent us here,”said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11).

"Tonight, President Trump laid out a strong vision for our country, one focused on security, strength, and opportunity for the American people. He’s delivering on the priorities he campaigned on: securing the border, restoring fiscal responsibility, unleashing American energy, and standing up for working families,” said RSC Vice-Chair Ben Cline (VA-06).“As Vice-Chair of the Republican Study Committee, I’m proud to help move this agenda forward and turn these priorities into lasting law. The RSC is working to rein in Washington’s out-of-control spending, defend our constitutional freedoms, and grow an economy that rewards hard work.”

“Tonight, President Trump recapped it perfectly: promises made, promises kept. Alongside House Republicans, the Trump administration has delivered on border security, tax relief for working families, and the rest of our shared America First agenda. As Communications Task Force Chair for the RSC, we’ll keep delivering — and amplifying — the America First message for the American people,” said RSC Messaging Task Force Chair Mark Alford (MO-04).

“Over the past year, through the leadership of the Trump Administration and in partnership with House Republicans, Americans have seen inflation ease, wages rise, taxes reduced so small businesses can invest and grow, American energy production expanded to help lower costs, and trillions of dollars in new private investment flow back into manufacturing — strengthening and expanding our middle class,” said RSC Budget & Spending Task Force Chair Beth Van Duyne (TX-24). “Working alongside President Trump, the Republican Study Committee has helped advance conservative reforms to right-size the federal budget to pre-COVID spending levels, empower growth through lower taxes and lighter regulation, secure our borders and deport criminal illegal immigrants who prey on innocent Americans, and ensure America’s working families are no longer left behind.”

Under President Trump’s leadership, Republicans have followed through on our commitment to unleash American energy by rolling back harmful, politically driven regulations and policies from previous administrations. In just one year, these actions have empowered domestic energy workers, driven billions in new investment, and strengthened America’s position as an energy powerhouse. There is still more work ahead, and we will continue advancing an America First agenda to ensure affordable, reliable energy and lasting energy security for the American people,” said RSC HEAT Chair Troy Balderson (OH-12).

“President Trump is setting the standard for a new generation of bold conservative leadership,” said RSC Article One Task Force Chair Harriet Hageman (WY-AL).“Tonight, the President demonstrated why Americans overwhelmingly re-elected him to finish what he started. Congress needs to move at Trump speed to codify the administration’s actions and rein in the leviathan of the administrative state. As Chair of the Article I Task Force, I am committed to helping the RSC deliver on cementing the President’s policies and working with Chairman Pfluger to deliver a new American golden age.”

"Tonight, President Trump addressed a nation receiving the largest working-class tax relief in history — a nation that has regained control of its borders, restored its energy independence, strengthened its supply chains, and renewed its promise to the next generation. Iowa’s voice and leadership have been at the center of that progress. We’ve led the charge to restore the American Dream of homeownership, deliver certainty for homegrown energy, put more dollars back in working families’ pockets, and hold Washington accountable to Iowa. Every win builds momentum, and Iowa’s voice will continue to be central to the work ahead as we deliver results families can see in their paychecks, farmers can see in their margins, and communities can see in safer neighborhoods, stronger Main Streets, and greater opportunity for the next generation,"said RSC National Security Task Force Chair Zach Nunn (IA-03).

“Promises Made. Promises Kept. Records Shattered! Inflation is down. Mortgage rates are falling. Gas prices are dropping. Republicans passed historic tax relief with no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security. Washington is finally working for the people. For nine straight months, there have been ZERO border releases. Law and order are being restored, and the message is clear: America’s sovereignty matters. Common is back! Men are MEN. Women are WOMEN. We are protecting women’s sports. We are defending parental rights. We are rejecting the radical social experiments that were forced on our schools, our military, and our children. In just one year under President Trump and Republican leadership, America has never been stronger!” said RSC Emerging Technologies Task Force Chair Kat Cammack (FL-03).
