RSC Leads Reconciliation 2.0: Making the American Dream Affordable Again

January 16, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) and Rep. Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) unveiled details of the RSC's second reconciliation framework on Right to the Point, outlining how "Making the American Dream Affordable Again" will tackle the housing crisis,  restore health care freedom, and slash energy costs.

With first-time homebuyers now averaging 41 years old and interest rates having doubled from 3 percent to 7 percent under Biden, the framework includes Rep. Cammack’s NEST Act to help Americans save for down payments tax-free. Chairman Pfluger explained the proposal directly reverses 12 years of Democratic policies that sent inflation skyrocketing and created regulatory barriers preventing Americans from building wealth.

On health care, Rep. Haridopolos exposed how Obamacare funnels billions in taxpayer subsidies directly to insurance companies instead of patients, incentivizing denial of care to maximize profits. The RSC framework redirects that money to individuals, forcing insurers to compete on quality and price while giving patients control over their own health care decisions.

The duo stressed urgency in passing a second reconciliation bill that codifies President Trump's executive orders, ensuring hardworking families reap the benefits for generations. Republicans are united in delivering on their mandate to restore affordability and prosperity for American families.

Key Quotes from the Episode:

Chairman Pfluger: "The RSC, since July 5th, we've been working hand in hand through the organization to come up with a bill that makes the American Dream affordable again. And we're proud to have released it this week."

Chairman Pfluger: "Everything we're doing is trying to undo what they've done under Obama and then Biden because it was disastrous for 12 years."

Rep. Haridopolos: "When you get that tax credit under Obamacare, it doesn't go to you or me. It goes directly to the insurance company. It's in the best interest of the insurance company to deny you care, because when they deny you care, they make bigger profits."

Rep. Haridopolos: "The Republican plan is to give the power back to the individual. Let them keep more of the money they've earned. The Democrat plan is to send more money and power to Washington."
