RSC Members: Stop the Stall, Pass the SAVE Act

February 6, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) released a new video putting continued pressure on the Senate to immediately pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to secure American elections.

The video highlights a simple fact: 83% of Americans support requiring proof of citizenship to vote. Members drew sharp contrasts between ID requirements for everyday activities like boarding a plane and the current lack of citizenship verification for voter registration.

The House passed the SAVE Act nearly 300 days ago, and despite 48 GOP cosponsors in the Senate, the legislation has stalled. RSC members have led the charge for election integrity, with their efforts covered in The Daily Wire and The Blaze.

The full video transcript is below:

RSC Chairman August Pfluger: "Nearly 300 days have passed since the House did our job and we passed the SAVE Act, sending it to the Senate, and yet they continue to stall and are not passing this critical piece of legislation that would secure our elections."

Rep. Josh Brecheen: "This is something that is long overdue."

Rep. Brandon Gill: "Illegal aliens shouldn't be voting in American elections, and foreign nationals should have no impact at all on America's electoral system."

Rep. Tim Burchett: "Nobody should be opposed to that."

Rep. Brandon Gill: "83%..."

RSC Chairman August Pfluger: "83%..."

Rep. Kat Cammack: "83%.."

Rep. John McGuire: "83% of Americans agree we should have voter ID."

Rep. Brandon Gill: "The American people have been demanding secure elections for years now."

Rep. John McGuire: "The SAVE Act is common sense legislation."

Rep. Pat Harrigan: "Every day life requires proof of who you are — whether it's flying, banking, buying alcohol, or guns — you have to prove who you are."

Rep. Tim Burchett: "You prove that you're an American citizen to get registered to vote; you show your ID when you vote. It's a simple process."

Rep. Pat Harrigan: "Yet we're told that proving American citizenship to vote is simply too much."

Rep. Tim Burchett: "In Tennessee, I'm not a drinker, but you got to show an ID to buy a six pack of beer. And yet, there's a fight over this. It's about corruption. It's about power. It's about control."

Rep. Kat Cammack: "19 states across the United States have illegals getting driver's licenses, and of those 19 states, 15 employ automatic voter registration. This is a real issue with real consequences."

RSC Chairman August Pfluger: "We have a mandate to make sure that the American public's voices can be heard, not illegal aliens."

Rep. William Timmons: "The American people gave President Trump a mandate — and this Congress — a mandate to secure our elections."

Rep. Abe Hamadeh: "We've got to be tough. We've got to be strong. And we've got to support President Trump and support all of our election integrity efforts."

Rep. Ben Cline: "Republican Study Committee members will keep fighting until this legislation gets to President Trump's desk and is signed into law."

Rep. Pat Harrigan: "The Senate needs to put the vote on the floor."

RSC Chairman August Pfluger: "Let's get this passed."
