RSC Members Thank National Guard After Month of Lower D.C. Crime
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Republican Study Committee members toured the National Mall with the National Guard who were deployed to restore law and order at the direction of President Trump.
As the party that has always championed our military and law enforcement, RSC members delivered a clear message: this is what happens when Republicans prioritize public safety over the soft-on-crime policies that have failed American cities for years.
The stark contrast couldn't be clearer. While Democrats doubled down on policies that coddle criminals and defund police, Republicans backed President Trump's decision to deploy professional military personnel who have restored order to America's capital. The numbers don't lie—crime has dropped sharply across D.C. since the National Guard arrived, vindicating the Republican approach of supporting our military and prioritizing public safety over progressive ideology.
During the event, RSC members praised the National Guard's service and effectiveness while highlighting the broader lesson for America in the nation’s capital:
“President Trump is delivering on his promise to clean up the streets of Washington, D.C. Families and small businesses here finally see real action to restore safety and dignity to their communities. States like New York, where violent crime continues to rise under failed Democrat leadership, would be well served to follow his example. The American people deserve leaders who back our police, support our Guard, and protect the innocent, not criminals,” said Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24).
“Pro-criminal Democrat policies left Washington, D.C. in shambles, and I’m proud that President Trump had the courage to stand up for residents and visitors of our nation’s capital by cleaning up our streets. Thank you to our brave, selfless national guardsmen for the sacrifices they are making to keep us safe. It’s time we take the success of Washington’s crime crackdown nationwide, because Americans are saying ‘enough’ to soft-on-crime policies that allow murderers like the animal who killed a Ukrainian refugee in Charlotte, NC to roam free,” said Rep. Buddy Carter (GA-01).
"I was honored to join the Republican Study Committee this morning to thank our National Guard for their service. While Democrats undermine law and order, Republicans stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the men and women who keep our Capitol and our communities safe,” said Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15). “With President Trump’s leadership, we will restore law and order and Make America Safe Again."
“As we have shown in Florida, public safety is a choice and I want to thank President Trump for choosing to make Washington Great Again,” said Rep. Randy Fine (FL-06). “I particularly want to thank the Guardsman I met today who are making DC safer than it’s ever been. You can feel the change everywhere you go in Washington. Democrats may want to coddle criminals, but the President and the Republican Party will not. And under the leadership of Chairman Pfluger, the RSC has become the most pro-law enforcement and pro-military wing of the Republican Party backing President Trump’s agenda.”
