RSC Members Work to Get Leftist Propaganda Off the Air and Off Our Dime
WASHINGTON, DC — After years of NPR using taxpayer dollars to push Leftist propaganda, attack conservative values, and spread anti-American bias, four Republican Study Committee members have introduced legislation to defund NPR and codify President Trump's Executive Order ending this taxpayer-funded assault.
For too long, hardworking Americans have been forced to bankroll a network that despises them and everything they stand for. NPR serves as a mouthpiece for the woke Democrats—all while cashing government checks funded by the very people they mock.
Representatives Kat Cammack (FL-03), Ronny Jackson (TX-13), and Claudia Tenney (NY-24), and Dale Strong (AL-05) have introduced bills that would permanently end NPR’s federal funding, making President Trump's executive action the law of the land.
The four RSC members issued the following statements:
"For far too long, NPR has used taxpayer dollars to cater exclusively to its liberal audience and promote a one-sided political agenda," said Rep. Kat Cammack. "Hardworking Americans should not be forced to subsidize a media outlet that consistently presents partisan bias under the guise of journalism, especially as NPR has repeatedly failed to cover stories simply because they do not align with the far-left narrative."
“Since being elected to Congress, I’ve led the charge to defund NPR because taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to support a media outlet that no longer delivers fair, balanced coverage," said Rep. Ronny Jackson. "I was the first to introduce legislation to end NPR’s federal funding, and now that President Trump has taken action, it’s time to codify it and ensure their leftwing propaganda doesn’t get another cent of taxpayer money.”
"As a former newspaper owner and publisher, I understand the importance of balanced, non-partisan journalism. Unfortunately, NPR has strayed far from that standard," said Rep. Claudia Tenney. "NPR uses American taxpayer dollars to manipulate the news, lie to the public, and promote a partisan, left-wing agenda. That's why I introduced the Defund Government-Sponsored Propaganda Act to ensure Americans will no longer fund biased media under the guise of public broadcasting."
“I look forward to working with President Trump and my colleagues on the Hill to codify his executive order into law," said Rep. Dale Strong. "My bill, the No More Funding for NPR Act, is common sense. NPR has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the far left, serving as an extension of the Democratic Party’s communication arm. Hard-earned taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund liberal propaganda. It is past time for Congress to stop subsidizing media that undermines the values and beliefs of everyday Americans.”
The legislation represents a key component of the RSC's Set in Stone initiative, which seeks to codify President Trump's executive orders into permanent law. With Republicans having the trifecta, time is of the essence. The American people are counting on Congress to get this done.
