RSC Sets the Record Straight on the Democrats' Reckless CR Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. - As the clock struck midnight on October 1, 2025, the federal government shut down thanks to Congressional Democrats who have been totally captured by the Radical Left and are determined to put the needs of illegal aliens and large insurance companies over those of the American people. In response, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) called out the Democrats’ radical and costly alternative continuing resolution (CR), that is nothing more than a repackaged version of the failed Biden/Harris policy platform that the American people overwhelmingly rejected last November.

The Democrats’ partisan government funding “plan” is a wishlist of the most radical left-wing policy priorities; proposals that failed the first time around, and would inflict even more damage upon the American people today.

Included in the Democrats’ alternative CR is:

$1.5 trillion in inflationary new spending
Taxpayer-funded Medicaid benefits for 1.2 million illegal aliens
Hundreds of millions of dollars funneled to left-wing media organizations
The reversal of nearly $5 billion in commonsense spending cuts to woke and wasteful programs.
