RSC Takes Over the Tim Young Show to Blast the Democrat Shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nearly 20 Republican Study Committee (RSC) members took over the Tim Young Show, hammering Democrats for shutting down the American government over their radical wish list.

The extended new media format allowed members to detail the real-world impact of the shutdown—from Florida families unable to close on homes due to suspended flood insurance, to 1.3 million active military members going without paychecks.

RSC Members also criticized Democrats' demands for $1.5 trillion in new spending, which includes taxpayer-subsidized healthcare for illegal aliens.

“One of the forms of insurance that people in Florida want is flood insurance, because we live in a place that gets hurricanes. If you live in Nevada, this may not be a big deal, but if you live in Florida, they want you to have flood insurance. Flood insurance is provided by the federal government, through FEMA. You pay for it, but it's provided through FEMA. It's the National Flood Insurance Program. That program has been shut down because of the government shutdown. Realtors working hard get you that contract, but you can't close on your house because you can't go and buy flood insurance.”

“Chuck Schumer chose to shut this down because he is scared to death of the leftist, progressive side of the Democrat party. That is who runs the Democrat party at this point, I just think that there's a bunch of Democrats out there like, this is crazy, what we're doing, but they're scared to say it, because what will happen to them is they will be primaried, and we've seen this time after time now, over the last few years.”

Rep. Beth Van Duyne on the Impacts of a Government Shutdown for American Families:
“You think about the 1.3 million active military right now that aren't getting paychecks. You think about the 100,000 law enforcement officers, 300,000 law enforcement officers around the country that are not getting paychecks or you know, TSA. We've got a lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck, who do work for the government, and that's a problem. But the good part about this, that you've got Trump in the White House and not Biden, because under the guidelines of a shutdown, basically, you are forfeiting the powers of the agency to the executive branch, and so they are doing everything that they can to make sure that the pain is not being felt by the citizens.”

Rep. Rich McCormick on Democrats' Partisan Spending Wish List:
“They somehow got ingrained in the Affordable Care Act. They get a certain percentage of profit, and somehow we think that’s better. And the only way to keep this sustained is doing something we told them we weren’t going to do—we’re going to retract, and the states that have taken up the slack that they were never supposed to be doing. This was supposed to be a state-run Medicaid program… It’s not just about illegal immigration; it’s about who pays the bill.”
