RSC Takes Over the Tim Young Show to Blast the Democrat Shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nearly 20 Republican Study Committee (RSC) members took over the Tim Young Show, hammering Democrats for shutting down the American government over their radical wish list.
The extended new media format allowed members to detail the real-world impact of the shutdown—from Florida families unable to close on homes due to suspended flood insurance, to 1.3 million active military members going without paychecks.
RSC Members also criticized Democrats' demands for $1.5 trillion in new spending, which includes taxpayer-subsidized healthcare for illegal aliens.

Here’s what you missed:
Rep. Randy Fine on Democrats Holding the Government Hostage During Hurricane Season:
“One of the forms of insurance that people in Florida want is flood insurance, because we live in a place that gets hurricanes. If you live in Nevada, this may not be a big deal, but if you live in Florida, they want you to have flood insurance. Flood insurance is provided by the federal government, through FEMA. You pay for it, but it's provided through FEMA. It's the National Flood Insurance Program. That program has been shut down because of the government shutdown. Realtors working hard get you that contract, but you can't close on your house because you can't go and buy flood insurance.”
Rep. Michael Guest on Democrats Demanding Healthcare for Illegal Aliens:
“This is clearly a political shutdown. This is not over policy. The Democrats have tried to make it over policy, particularly the expanding Obamacare enhanced subsidies that will expire at the end of the year. But look, these are policies that the Democrats put in place. These are things in which the Democrats set when these expiration dates would occur. These were supposed to be temporary in light of Covid. Now we see that they want to make these permanent. The cost of that would be over $500 billion and so the Democrats are asking for $500 billion in new funding to keep the government open for a mere seven weeks.”
Rep. Tom Tiffany on Chuck Schumer Caving to the Radical Left:
“Chuck Schumer chose to shut this down because he is scared to death of the leftist, progressive side of the Democrat party. That is who runs the Democrat party at this point, I just think that there's a bunch of Democrats out there like, this is crazy, what we're doing, but they're scared to say it, because what will happen to them is they will be primaried, and we've seen this time after time now, over the last few years.”
Rep. Beth Van Duyne on the Impacts of a Government Shutdown for American Families:
“You think about the 1.3 million active military right now that aren't getting paychecks. You think about the 100,000 law enforcement officers, 300,000 law enforcement officers around the country that are not getting paychecks or you know, TSA. We've got a lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck, who do work for the government, and that's a problem. But the good part about this, that you've got Trump in the White House and not Biden, because under the guidelines of a shutdown, basically, you are forfeiting the powers of the agency to the executive branch, and so they are doing everything that they can to make sure that the pain is not being felt by the citizens.”
Rep. Rich McCormick on Democrats' Partisan Spending Wish List:
“They somehow got ingrained in the Affordable Care Act. They get a certain percentage of profit, and somehow we think that’s better. And the only way to keep this sustained is doing something we told them we weren’t going to do—we’re going to retract, and the states that have taken up the slack that they were never supposed to be doing. This was supposed to be a state-run Medicaid program… It’s not just about illegal immigration; it’s about who pays the bill.”
Rep. Addison McDowell Calls Out Democrats Putting Illegal Aliens Over Servicemembers:
“You give them a lot of credit if you act like they know what they're doing. I don't know that they do. And it's they're losing this battle that they thought that they would win for God knows why, but they're only causing harm and over what, you know, health care to illegal aliens. I mean, is it worth not paying a soldier for that? To me, absolutely not.”
Rep. Claudia Tenney on the Radical Left Taking Over the Democrat Party:
“It’s going to get worse for Hakeem Jefferies and Chuck Schumer. Zohran Mamdani is going to be the highest-ranked Democrat Socialist in America—the Mayor of the largest city in America and the largest city in New York. The Democrats should wake up.”
Rep. Glenn Grothman Calls Out Democrats' Lies on Providing Illegal Aliens Healthcare:
“The goal of the Democrats is to fundamentally change the nation, as Barack Obama said, and one way to do that is to invite tens of millions of new people here. And one way to encourage more people to come here is to say if you come here, you’ll get free health insurance. That, I think, is why the Democrats are so hellbent on giving free healthcare to illegal aliens.”
Rep. Dave Taylor on Democrats Holding the Government Hostage:
“They wanted a clean, short-term CR. It’s clean, it’s short-term—and once we got to that point, they decided they wanted to add this long list of ridiculous demands. The One Big Beautiful Bill just got done cutting $1.6 trillion in spending over the next 10 years, and they want [Democrats] $1.5 trillion spent in the next month and a half. It doesn’t make sense. None of it is logical.”
Rep. Marlin Stutzman on Democrats Doubling Down on the Government Shutdown:
“Doubling down and defending illegals and healthcare benefits—that, to me, I don’t understand. My constituents don’t have much sympathy for the Democrats at all because of their policies. We’re $37 trillion in debt as a country and federal government.”
Rep. Burgess Owens Calls Out Democrats for Putting Politics Over the American People:
“We have a remarkable conference that came together as a team. We’re going to pass this out—all we have to do is a clean CR, keep it the way it is so we can get our people the services they need. What do Democrats do? We’re going to bring as much pain as they can possibly bring and then point fingers at somebody else doing it. So we’re going to come out of this okay. The Democrats themselves—those who are federal workers—when they lose their jobs forever, permanently, it’s because of Democrats playing games.”
Rep. Mike Haridopolos Calls Out Chuck Schumer for Flip-Flopping on Government Shutdowns:
“Chuck Schumer’s been in the United States Congress since he was elected in 1980, and with that in mind, he’s in a position where his entire career he’s said shutting down the government is the worst thing you can do—and here he is, shutting down the government.”
Rep. Jimmy Patronis on Democrats Putting Working Class Americans Last:
“I grew up in the service industry, and the service industry unfortunately, has a lot of people who live month to month—some people live week to week. And now you’re going to put our national security at risk with folks, some of whom live week to week. They’re going to have loans with their bank or credit union, have mortgages and rent, and all of those are now being put in jeopardy because Chuck Schumer doesn’t want to sign a clean CR.”
