RSC Tax Day Roundtable: Tax Day Has Never Looked Better For Hardworking Americans

April 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Republican Study Committee (RSC) today hosted a Tax Day roundtable with hardworking Americans who have benefited firsthand from the Working Families Tax Cuts, the most significant pro-growth, pro-family tax reform in a generation. The historic legislation extended the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts, stopping the largest tax hike in American history, and delivered no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime, an expanded Child Tax Credit, and major small business tax relief to workers and families across the country.

The roundtable was led by RSC Budget and Spending Task Force Chair Beth Van Duyne (TX-24), joined by Reps. Tom Tiffany (WI-7), Marlin Stutzman (IN-3), and Chuck Edwards (NC-11). Together, they heard directly from veterans, small business owners, gig economy workers, service industry employees, financial professionals, and policy advocates on how the Working Families Tax Cuts have delivered for their families, businesses, and communities, and why making these provisions permanent is so impactful Americans who shared their stories included:

  • Will McLoughlin, Founder, Ameri-CANS, a veteran-owned portable sanitation company and former U.S. Marine Corps servicemember
  • Kevin McEwin, DoorDash driver representing independent contractors and gig economy workers
  • Lyndsey Fifield, Stay-at-home mom
  • Dennis Ferrigno, Founder, Executive Beverage, a premier bartending and consulting service
  • Nate D'Amico, Bartender, Virtue Feed and Grain
  • Scott Jones, CEO, Forest Landowners Association

BACKGROUND

Throughout the budget reconciliation process, the RSC was the driving force behind the Working Families Tax Cuts, pushing for the most conservative, pro-growth reforms possible. The RSC fought to extend the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts, secure no taxes on tips and overtime, expand the Child Tax Credit, create Trump Accounts, and deliver enhanced small business deductions. The result is historic legislation that keeps more money in the hands of the workers, families, and job creators who earned it.
