Sen. Scott, Pfluger: America's health care crisis has a cure. Will Congress prescribe it?

December 12, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) authored a new op-ed in the Washington Examiner on the More Affordable Care Act, the first and only comprehensive bicameral health care reform plan since Republicans took unified control of Washington.

Senator Scott and Chairman Pfluger emphasize the urgency of this moment and detail how 15 years of Obamacare have delivered exactly the opposite of what the Democrats promised: premiums have soared beyond what families can afford, hospital and physician choices have dramatically shrunk, and deductibles have climbed so high that millions of working families have insurance they cannot actually use.

The piece lays out how their legislation fundamentally shifts power from insurance companies and Washington bureaucrats back to American patients by creating Trump Health Freedom Accounts where federal subsidies are deposited directly into accounts individuals control, allowing families to shop for coverage across state lines, and requiring hospitals to disclose actual prices upfront so Americans can make informed decisions.
