Show Me the Money: Eliminating Criminals Get Out of Jail Free Card

August 25, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump is restoring law and order to our nation's capital and cities across America by signing a new Executive Order that ends the failed experiment of cashless bail.

For too long, weak cashless bail policies have prioritized the interests of criminals over the safety of law-abiding citizens, but the days of releasing dangerous criminals en masse are over. This Executive Order represents a critical step toward restoring public safety and ensuring that our justice system protects victims and our communities rather than enabling repeat offenders.

Republican Study Committee Members released the following statements in response to the President’s executive order to end the crime spree in Washington, D.C.:

"Just 12 days ago, President Trump brought law and order back to the District of Columbia after local Democrat elected officials hid behind closed doors, pushing their soft-on-crime policies. Residents and visitors in our nation’s capital should feel safe, not fear for their lives. The President's move to eliminate cashless bail is another step in ending years of lawlessness and the out-of-control crime spree that has terrorized Washington, D.C.,” said RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11).

“Cashless bail allows dangerous criminals to roam free, putting our communities at risk and undermining public safety,” said RSC Vice Chair Ben Cline (VA-06). “President Trump’s decision to end this reckless policy in D.C. is an important step toward restoring law and order. The days of turning a blind eye to violent crime are over. This common-sense reform puts the safety of law-abiding Americans first and delivers on the promise President Trump made last November.”

“President Trump is right to put an end to dangerous no-cash bail policies that have allowed repeat offenders back on our streets. Public safety must come first, and this executive order sends a clear message that violent criminals will be held accountable. I applaud the President for taking decisive action to protect our communities and stand firmly with him in making sure our justice system works for law-abiding citizens, not violent criminals,” said Rep. Laurel Lee (FL-15).

"Cashless bail is a tool of the radical left to resist law and order policies. It hurts law enforcement and promotes criminality. Whether business owners, families, or individuals, public safety is an essential right that must be protected," said Rep. Brad Knott (NC-13).

“Releasing dangerous criminals under cashless bail is reckless and wrong. By ending this failed Democrat policy, President Trump is standing up for victims, protecting our communities, and upholding justice,” said Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15).

“While Democrats coddle criminals, President Trump cracks down on them. Americans are safer, and criminals are off the streets — that’s the Trump effect,” said Rep. Lance Gooden (TX-05).
