WASHINGTON DC - Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger released the following statement on President Trump's announcement this afternoon regarding tariffs on China:

"President Trump's decision to raise tariffs on China to 125% sends a clear message: the era of China taking advantage of American workers and businesses is over. For far too long, China has manipulated world markets, stolen American intellectual property, and engaged in predatory trade practices at our expense. The President is making good on his campaign promise to shake up trade relations and put Americans first. By creating leverage and bringing numerous countries to the negotiating table, he is delivering for American workers, manufacturers, and our nation's future. As Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, I fully support these decisive actions that isolate China as the problem while rewarding countries willing to play by fair rules. The days of giving China a free pass are over."
