WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: Capitol Hill and Key Stakeholders Applaud RSC Budget

January 12, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Last week, Republican Study Committee Budget and Spending Task Force Chair Beth Van Duyne (TX-24)  and RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) unveiled the RSC Budget. Serving as a fiscal roadmap, the document balances the federal budget within ten years while upholding critical government programs that protect seniors, agricultural producers, and American families. The RSC Budget proves pro-growth, deregulatory policies balanced with restrained federal spending can balance the budget without eliminating the programs Americans rely on most.

Here’s what Capitol Hill and key stakeholder groups are saying about the RSC Budget:

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson: “I applaud Chairman Pfluger and Rep. Beth Van Duyne for their work in aligning the Republican Study Committee budget with the priorities of the broader GOP conference regarding agriculture, our nation’s most important industry. With over 90% of planted acres located in Republican districts, supporting American agriculture must remain a key goal of our party. This budget is proof that a fiscally responsible path to prosperity doesn't have to come at the expense of our hard-working farmers and ranchers. Thank you to RSC for reflecting the needs of this key constituency in their new budget. I look forward to working with them to advance many of these policy goals in Farm Bill 2.0.”

Heritage Foundation: "We at Heritage applaud the Republican Study Committee, Chairman August Pfluger, and Budget Taskforce Chair Beth Van Duyne for offering a blueprint to help rein in reckless DC spending and promote prosperity for all Americans. The 2026 RSC Budget demonstrates a thoughtful proposal that’s fiscally sound, pro-growth, and focused on what matters most to Americans including lower energy costs, a secure border, and a strong military. The Golden Age will not happen on its own. It must be built with bold policy grounded in fiscal sanity, and the RSC budget provides a great roadmap to get there." -- Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation.

Americans for Tax Reform: “The RSC FY2026 Budget proves that fiscal responsibility and economic growth are not mutually exclusive. The Budget locks in historic tax cuts, expands opportunities for saving and investment, repeals punitive taxes, unleashes American energy production, protects retirement savings, cracks down on waste and fraud, and defends worker and parental choice. The RSC presents a serious alternative to wasteful spending and regulatory nightmares. Americans for Tax Reform applauds the Republican Study Committee for advancing a Budget that rewards hard work, protects American taxpayers, and reins in a federal government that has grown far beyond its role.”

National Taxpayers Union: “A lot of politicians talk about our $38 trillion national debt, but few provide solutions on how to address this growing crisis. National Taxpayers Union applauds the Republican Study Committee for releasing a budget that achieves balance in 10 years. RSC Chairman August Pfluger and RSC Budget & Spending Task Force Chair Beth Van Duyne have wisely created a blueprint that focuses on controlling federal spending and promoting policies that cut red tape, streamline the tax code, and allow free markets to deliver economic security for working families. With deficits and the national debt at historic levels, this budget framework protects taxpayers and strengthens the economy by balancing the budget within ten years without raising taxes.”

American Principles Project: "APP commends the Republican Study Committee for consistently prioritizing families in their budgeting policies. From expanding the Child Tax Credit and Paid Family Leave and defunding Planned Parenthood through the Reconciliation process to prioritizing the protection of children and families in this budget proposal, the RSC has proved a key ally in the fight to preserve and strengthen the American family. This proposed budget would enact many important pro-family policies, including Rep. Claudia Tenney’s No Subsidies for Gender Transition Procedures Act, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Protect Children’s Innocence Act, Rep. Greg Steube's Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, and numerous other measures to remove left-wing ideologies and bolster parental rights in education. The budget is also deeply pro-life and would institute critical protections for both unborn children and their mothers. The RSC has put forward a bold vision for an attainable family-first America, and APP is proud to support it.”

Competitive Enterprise Institute: “In recognizing the significance of regulatory reform alongside spending restraint, the Republican Study Committee’s new budget blueprint takes potentially transformative steps. Regulatory streamlining must remain central to whatever fiscal year 2026 and 2027 deals emerge. It may be hard to recall today, but cornerstone regulatory management statutes—the Congressional Review Act, the Regulatory Flexibility Act, the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act, and the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act—once enjoyed strong bipartisan support. Here’s hoping the new year brings a return to that spirit.”

American Business Defense Council: “On behalf of family businesses, farms and ranches throughout America, The American Business Defense Council supports the Republican Study Committee (RSC) Budget and its recommendations for future legislation. We praise the plans to completely repeal the Federal Estate Tax, also known as the Death Tax.  The One Big Beautiful Bill in 2025 permanently raised the Death Tax exemption of the Federal Estate Tax to $15 million, protecting many small to medium family-owned businesses, farms and ranches.  We express our great appreciation for this relief.  The RSC Budget’s recommendation to completely repeal the Federal Estate Tax will extend that relief and protection to the more productive, dynamic and larger family businesses, farms and ranches. This not only helps family businesses, farms and ranches survive, it also helps preserve jobs and further expands employment. Family-owned firms and farms provide 49.1 million American jobs. The American Business Defense Council is enthusiastic about and supports RSC’s vision that reduces taxes, government rules, regulations and guidelines...all of which will lead to more jobs, a stronger economy, increased opportunities for all Americans...and a greater America. We give you our enthusiastic support.”

Teller Strategies: “Once again, the RSC has produced a top-quality, serious, meaningful budget that recognizes how dire America’s fiscal situation is.  It is long past due to make dramatic and immediate reductions in federal spending in order to bring down the outrageous levels of borrowing and interest payments—and to restore the federal government back to its constitutionally limited role.  I’ve spent thousands of hours in my day working on RSC budgets, so I know how hard it is to make the tough choices that will lead to a balanced budget.  Kudos to RSC Members and staff for their consistent excellence, as exemplified by this budget.”  --Paul Teller, President, Teller Strategies, and former RSC staffer, 2001-2013.
