WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: Democrats’ Green New Scam Would Leave Americans in the Dark

WASHINGTON, D.C. — For nearly a decade, the Democrat Party has pushed for the Green New Deal, a proposal estimated to cost $370 billion over the next decade that would make America depend on unreliable energy sources, force taxpayers to subsidize radical climate policies, and undermine American national security.

Without any Democrat support, Republicans delivered the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which advances American energy dominance by expanding domestic biofuel production, boosting nuclear energy, supporting reliable baseload power, and strengthening domestic critical mineral supply chains. These investments reduce America’s reliance on foreign energy sources and ensure American families have access to affordable, reliable energy.

Republicans have also fought to roll back Biden-era clean energy and electric vehicle mandates that placed additional economic burdens on American consumers. If given the chance, Democrats would not only reinstate these costly mandates, but pursue even more extreme climate policies at the expense of Americans’ livelihoods and wallets.

“Joe Biden went after our family farms with reckless regulations, weak trade deals, and Green New Scam policies that drove up costs and hurt rural communities. With President Trump in the White House, we’re reversing course and standing up for American farmers,” said Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15).

“It is time to unleash America’s New Golden Age. But to do that, we need affordable energy sources that Americans can rely on. The ‘Green New Scam’ is not fooling anyone,”said Rep. Riley Moore (WV-02).

“Democrat-led states have intentionally restricted affordable energy sources, like oil and natural gas, while subsidizing less reliable energy, like solar and wind alternatives. Democrats in Congress have implemented the same playbook on the national level, handing out billions of taxpayer dollars to green energy companies while Americans pay the price…Removing costly federal red tape will lower utility bills, improve home affordability and restore consumer choice,” said Rep. Craig Goldman (TX-12).

“It’s clear the Biden Administration turned the Environmental Protection Agency into a vehicle for rewarding political allies, all while risking the stability of our energy infrastructure and burdening American families with higher utility costs. Americans deserve better than this green energy scam disguised as environmental justice, and Oversight Republicans will continue to hold the Biden Administration accountable to ensure the EPA operates as intended and that taxpayer dollars are spent transparently, responsibly, and in the best interest of the American people,” said Rep. “For years, Democrats prioritized out-of-touch green scams, misusing taxpayer dollars to subsidize unreliable power sources. This jeopardized the strength of our electric grid, and residential ratepayers have had to bear the financial burden with skyrocketing energy bills...House Republicans are delivering real solutions to lower costs and cut through bureaucratic red tape. “The Biden administration left families in North Carolina and across the country feeling the squeeze at the gas pump, at the grocery store, and in every corner of the economy. Energy impacts nearly all facets of our economy, which is why the previous administration’s deliberate policy decision to focus on climate activism rather than economic reality was so harmful to working families…Republicans in the House of Representatives already took a historic step by passing [The Working Families Tax Cuts Act] which brings an end to the era of weaponizing the federal bureaucracy against American energy,” said Rep. Addison McDowell (NC-06).

“Energy independence guarantees our national independence. Yet for years, my colleagues across the aisle forgot that truth. The Left opposed pipelines that would strengthen our energy security posture. They restricted domestic oil and gas leasing while global demand continued to rise. They buried infrastructure beneath years of permitting delays and regulatory obstacles despite towns needing the infrastructure yesterday. They made it harder to build refineries, export terminals, and reliable power generation when America needed more energy, not less…Thankfully, President Trump and Republicans in Congress recognize this reality. We are working to reverse years of harmful anti-American energy policy by restoring an agenda centered on energy abundance, domestic production, and American competitiveness,” said Rep.
