WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: President Trump's Triumph for Peace in the Middle East

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today marked an extraordinary inflection point in time for the Middle East as President Donald Trump signed the historic Gaza Peace Deal alongside world leaders. The Republican Study Committee (RSC) celebrates President Trump’s unprecedented achievement, and commends the Trump Administration for their success in freeing the 20 hostages who were released into the arms of their loved ones.
President Trump’s strategy of ‘peace through strength’ brokered a historic peace agreement that stands to bring to an end a conflict that has ravaged the Middle East and perpetuated the spread of terrorism. As Phase 1 of the President’s Gaza Peace Plan gets underway, we commend the work done by Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Rubio, Jared Kushner, Special Envoy Witkoff, and others in the administration. Their work, under the leadership of President Trump, represents the most significant peace agreement in the Middle East since the end of the Second World War.
The Republican Study Committee continues to stand firmly with Israel and all of the Jewish people as it celebrates this momentous period. In the two years after Hamas’s insidious terrorist attack on October 7th, the Israeli people never wavered in their commitment to bring their loved ones home and defeat the terrorist organizations that jeopardize the safety of all those who call the Middle East home.
Here’s what world leaders and key figures are saying about the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan today:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "No American president has ever done more for Israel. It ain’t even close."
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio: "This is probably one of the most important days for world peace in 50 years. And that's not an exaggeration."
French President Emmanuel Macron: “This is a historic day for the hostages, their families, the Israeli people, and the Palestinian people. Let us prepare for what comes next together with humility.”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi: “We welcome the release of all hostages after over two years of captivity. Their freedom stands as a tribute to the courage of their families, the unwavering peace efforts of President Trump and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu. We support President Trump’s sincere efforts to bring peace to the region.”
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney: “The first phase of today’s historic peace plan has been signed, opening a new chapter for Israelis, Palestinians, and the world. Canada commends the leadership of President Trump, and leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye for enabling this step toward a just and lasting peace.”
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: “Today is a historic day. The hostages have been released: an extraordinary result, the fruit of the determination of international diplomacy and the implementation of the first part of the Peace Plan of American President Donald Trump.”
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: “A new phase of peace and cooperation begins. I would like to thank all participants of the conference – especially Egyptian President el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump – for their initiative and commitment. This achievement is the result of many efforts.”
United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer: “I reiterate my thanks for the tireless diplomatic efforts of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey. It is now more crucial that we work together to implement President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.”
AIPAC: “This is an extraordinary moment for America, Israel and the world. The enduring partnership between the United States and our ally Israel over the past two years enabled this diplomatic breakthrough and a just conclusion to the terrible war Hamas started on October 7: freeing the hostages, disarming Hamas and removing the terror group from power in Gaza. This peace deal creates a tremendous opportunity to forge a better future for Israelis, Palestinians, and people across the Middle East. AIPAC applauds President Trump and his negotiating team for this tremendous achievement and for working together with Israel to broker this peace plan.”
Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC): “This remarkable achievement cements President Trump’s enduring legacy as the most pro-Israel President in U.S. history, and as the Peacemaker President.”
Heritage Foundation: “President Trump and his administration have brought new hope for lasting peace in the Middle East and for Israel. What happens with Gaza now depends on what happens with Hamas.”
