WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: RSC Members Rally Around Conservative Budget to Restore Fiscal Sanity

January 7, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Today, the Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) and RSC Budget and Spending Task Force Chair Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) unveiled the RSC budget, a conservative roadmap that balances the federal budget within ten years.

The RSC Budget spans back decades and is the cornerstone of fiscal responsibility for conservatives on Capitol Hill. The budget incorporates more than 220 bills from RSC Members, highlights key provisions from the historic Working Families Tax Cuts legislation, and advances pro-growth policies.

Here's what RSC Members are saying:

RSC Budget and Spending Task Force Chair Beth Van Duyne (TX-24):As Chair of the Budget and Spending Task Force, I have prioritized a return to pre-pandemic spending levels and a balanced federal budget as soon as possible – which our budget will do in ten years. We are following a precedent set by my friend, Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington. Since January our Task Force has been working with RSC Members, the House Budget Committee, the White House, and many stakeholders to gather proposals that were aimed at addressing our nation’s fiscal challenges. We developed this budget around a simple principle: Washington must live within its means.

RSC Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11): "For too long, Washington has ignored the basic math that every American family understands. Families balance their budgets and make tough choices every day. They expect their government to do the same. The RSC Budget is a reality check for Washington and proof that we can balance the budget, protect seniors, and restore fiscal sanity without punishing hardworking Americans."

RSC Vice-Chair Ben Cline (VA-06):Decades of Washington’s reckless spending habits have left the American people to foot the bill through high inflation and rising costs, and we cannot continue down this irresponsible path. The RSC budget proposes responsible, common-sense policy that bolsters the American economy, lowers inflation, slashes wasteful spending, and reverses the harmful, wasteful, and unnecessary Democrat policies that are crushing hardworking families. It’s far past time that Washington restores fiscal responsibility, reduces spending, and balances the federal budget to get our country back on the right track."

Rep. Ronny Jackson (TX-13):The RSC budget is a proven blueprint for conservative governance and lays out a clear path to rein in Washington’s out-of-control spending while building on President Trump’s America First economic vision. I’m proud to have four of my bills included as we work to restore fiscal discipline and get our country back on track after the Biden-Harris administration’s failures."

Rep. Aaron Bean (FL-04): Our national debt has surpassed a staggering $38 trillion, and the stakes of inaction are too high. The Republican Study Committee’s budget is a common-sense roadmap that will undo the devastating damage of Crazy Town’s reckless spending addiction and restore fiscal sanity. I commend RSC Chair Pfluger and RSC Budget Chair Van Duyne for their steadfast leadership in this effort."

Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21):As the latest fraud scandal in Minnesota exemplifies, spending across the federal government is rife with waste and abuse. The RSC’s proposed budget includes many commonsense policies to help rein in wasteful spending and decrease the size and scope of the federal government, as our Founders intended. I applaud my fellow Texans, RSC Chairman August Pfluger, and RSC Budget Task Force Chairwoman Beth Van Duyne’s efforts to reverse decades of fiscal irresponsibility in Washington."

Rep. Erin Houchin (IN-09): The RSC budget is a responsible roadmap to restoring fiscal discipline and putting America’s future on a sustainable path. As a member of the RSC Budget Taskforce, I’m proud to support a budget that balances in ten years, reins in wasteful spending, and puts working families first. I’m especially glad to see my Affordable HOMES Act included to expand housing supply and lower costs, along with the Abortion Funding Awareness Act to ensure transparency and accountability with taxpayer dollars. This budget proves we can support core priorities, strengthen our economy, and govern responsibly.”

Rep. David Rouzer (NC-07):I am proud to see the legislative agenda put forward in the conservative Republican Study Committee’s annual budget includes several priorities I have consistently promoted, including returning education to the states by responsibly eliminating the Department of Education, ending Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) fraud, requiring that asylum seekers follow our laws, and holding IRS agents accountable to the very rules they enforce. As we enter the new year, these provisions would return power to the American people and root out fraud and abuse."

Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-07):Washington can no longer afford reckless, blank-check spending. The RSC Budget provides a serious, conservative roadmap to rein in federal spending, restore fiscal discipline, and put our country back on a sustainable path. Restoring America’s Golden Age is rooted in pro-growth policies, limited government, and accountability to taxpayers, and I’m proud to support it as we plan for a stronger 2026 and beyond."

Rep. Marlin Stutzman (IN-03): The RSC budget will protect our borders, preserve American values, and defund woke pet projects created by Democratic Socialists. I am proud to have my Restoring Checks and Balances Act included in this legislation, which will restore America’s golden age by prioritizing fiscal sanity. I am looking forward to returning to pre-pandemic spending levels, unleashing American energy, and making America safer in 2026!
