Yakym, Moran: “It’s Okay to Love America,” Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a patriotic episode of the Republican Study Committee's Right to the Point podcast, Rep. Rudy Yakym (IN-02) is joined by Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) to celebrate America's 250th birthday and mark one year since President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act into law.
The two reflect on the transformation of Washington, D.C. ahead of the anniversary, from a restored National Mall and reflecting pool to a safer, cleaner capital patrolled by the National Guard, a sharp contrast from the vandalism and burned flags seen at Union Station in the summer of 2024. They also detail the real-world impact of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act one year later, with 127 million filers using the doubled standard deduction, 40 million families benefiting from the enhanced child tax credit, and millions more taking advantage of no tax on tips and no tax on overtime.
The celebration comes with a warning. Yakym and Moran point to a stark divide in patriotism between the parties, with 90 percent of Republicans saying it's okay to love America compared to just 30 percent of Democrats, and new polling showing a majority of Democrats now hold a more favorable view of socialism than capitalism.
