Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order making it easier to gain insurance through association health plans:

This executive order has the potential to implement better health care policy by opening up health care markets and increasing patient choices. The executive order could offer relief to Americans crushed by rising premiums and regulations caused by Obamacare. This relief is desperately needed by those suffering from Obamacare's mandates.

At the same time, I am concerned with the rationale behind this order. The Constitution gives Congress alone the authority to legislate. Regardless, Republicans need to continue to work to repeal Obamacare by passing legislation to permanently address patient choice and freedom in the marketplace and fulfill the promise of repealing and replacing this disastrous law.
