Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after news broke that Chairman Hensarling will retire at the end of his current term:

Much of the RSC's modern legacy can be attributed to Chairman Hensarling's grit and wisdom while he served as RSC Chairman from 2007-2009. Without fail, he has always been able to crystalize the conservative direction forward when Congress is presented with challenges. It is not often that we get champions in Congress for limited government and fiscal discipline like Jeb. He will be missed.

Washington - Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after next week's House floor schedule was released with a vote on the Senate-passed budget resolution:

Next week, the House will consider a budget that moves us towards keeping our promise to the American people - passing meaningful, permanent tax reform.

Though the Senate ignored the House's attempt to balance the budget and reform mandatory entitlement programs, the Republican Study Committee remains committed to fulfilling our pledge of fiscal responsibility.

Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order making it easier to gain insurance through association health plans:

This executive order has the potential to implement better health care policy by opening up health care markets and increasing patient choices. The executive order could offer relief to Americans crushed by rising premiums and regulations caused by Obamacare. This relief is desperately needed by those suffering from Obamacare's mandates.

Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration ending Cost Sharing Reduction Payments:

President Trump made the right call in deeming these payments unlawful. Under no circumstance should Congress attempt to expand Obamacare by cutting a check for President Obama's bailout of insurance companies. Instead, Congress must fulfill the promise to repeal and replace Obamacare with high-quality, patient-centered health care.

Washington – Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after the vote (139-281) on the RSC's FY18 Budget: Securing America's Future Economy:

I'm proud of the work of our members to put together this budget proposal that balances in 6 years. Today's vote is a good indicator of those Republicans committed to reining in America's out-of-control spending. The RSC proposal takes measures that some may consider drastic. The reality is: it is necessary. The longer we wait to take action to control our spending, the higher our debt climbs and the more drastic any solution will have to be.

Washington - Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36). Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement:

All people have the inalienable rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Today's bill marks an important step in protecting these rights for the most vulnerable among us - the unborn. Today's vote in the House of Representatives is a sign of hope the tide is turning on this important issue. I urge Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to not let this important, life-saving bill get thrown on the pile of more than 270 House-passed bills that await Senate passage.

Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement in response to the tax reform framework released today:

"At first glance the policies released today are good news to the American people. I am proud to see that a large part of the Republican Study Committee's submission to the tax reform task force was incorporated into today's framework. We need to begin acting on this framework legislatively as soon as possible.

"Republicans have to keep our promises to the American people on tax reform, repealing Obamacare, and securing the border before the end of the year."
