WASHINGTON—Today, Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks and 199 of his Republican colleagues sent a letter to congressional leaders pledging to oppose any government funding bill that eliminates or weakens the Hyde Amendment or other current-law, pro-life appropriations provisions.
The Hyde amendment is a four decade-old ban on taxpayer-funded abortions that has suddenly been placed on the chopping block by radical Democrats, despite the fact that it's received bipartisan support from every president since Jimmy Carter and even Joe Biden expressed support for it as recently as 2019.

This legislation has received the formal backing of the Republican Study Committee and addresses one of the top issue areas Chairman Banks has prioritized for the 117th Congress: Restoring Trust in Elections. WASHINGTON -- Chairman-elect Jim Banks today announced a strong list of conservatives who will serve the Republican Study Committee on the Executive Committee, Steering Committee and as Task Force Chairs. In total, there are five members on the Executive Committee, fourteen members on the Steering Committee and three task force chairs.
