Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after passage of the 21st Century Flood Reform Act (H.R. 2874) to reform the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP):

The National Flood Insurance Program is in dire need of reform as the recent $16 billion Congressional bailout confirms. The 21st Century Flood Reform Act takes much-needed steps to get the NFIP on more sound fiscal footing while implementing institutional reforms that allow the private market to compete. Today's vote to repeal Obamacare's Independent Payment Advisory Board is part of keeping our promise to the American people to repeal Obamacare. Unelected bureaucrats should never be empowered to make decisions to cut Medicare, threatening seniors' access to care without proper accountability to Congress and the American people. I urge Mitch McConnell to not let this bill fall by the wayside in order for Congress to deliver the health care reform Americans need.

Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement after news broke that Chairman Hensarling will retire at the end of his current term:

Much of the RSC's modern legacy can be attributed to Chairman Hensarling's grit and wisdom while he served as RSC Chairman from 2007-2009. Without fail, he has always been able to crystalize the conservative direction forward when Congress is presented with challenges. It is not often that we get champions in Congress for limited government and fiscal discipline like Jeb. He will be missed.
